Only you could come up with that one Dave! I had a bad day at the office today and Gareth did indeed play really well only eventually losing narrowly to the eventual winner so I think he deserves congratulations for what was probably the performance of the tournament this weekend. I hope everyone enjoyed the event as much as I did. There were some very nice comments from players; more than one player actually said this was the best BPPPA event EVER, which is really saying something so thanks for that. The last 16 line up today (excepting myself of course) was one of the most mouthwatering line ups UK pool has seen for a long time with some fantastic matches to watch: Boyes-Morris, Majid-Colclough, Burford-Donlon, Peach-Osbourne not to mention a tense 9-8 battle between Appleton & Drago! Really great stuff. Thanks as always to Shir who did another unbelievable job. When she runs events like this I sometimes can't quite work out how it runs so smoothly but it just does Thanks also to all the brilliant staff at Rileys, Barnsley. George and his team really looked after us again. And of course many congratulations to Darren for his victory today, which for him is 2 out of 2 for BPPPA events he's played in recently. I think everyone will agree that our two current best players reached the final again and though a few mistakes were made it was a real treat for the spectators, especially towards the end where several racks took more than 12 minutes each! Well done to both the Dazzlers for another good performance! I hope we see you all out in force again in 2 weeks time on 12 August for the one day BPPPA 8 ball open in Barnsley, followed by the next 9 ball main tour event in Nottingham on Saturday 25 August. If the tournament next month in Nottingham is half as good as this we are in for a real treat. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-07-29 22:04 ]

Hello guys and gals.... Got back a couple of hours ago, had food and turned pro9 on....thought id give my views on the weekend..... 63 runners and lots of big names there too....Drago, Gray, Peach, Appleton, Majid, Boyes, Donlon, Morris, Colclough, Osbourne, you get the idea!! Firstly i wanna say a massive well done to Shir and Riggers for a superbly smoothly ran event! Thanks to the manager of the club and his staff....top bloke, and the staff couldnt do enough to make us feel welcome! On the whole i played well this weekend, had some quality matches with some quality opponents. The final was a little bit of a let down for me as i missed a couple of silly pots early on which in effect saw me go 4-0 down....both myself and Daz had the ball roll off on us quite a few times, and this then put doubts in my mind when having to roll a ball full length of table! Apart from the finals table the rest were very good condition, and i look forward to returning there. In the final i felt that Daz made less mistakes than me this time and i think he deserved to win to be fair. But its a lesson for everyone......even when your playing second best in a match it is still very possible to win if you play the right shots at the right time....its a daft game really hahahaha. Well done to Gareth for reaching his first Semi and for beating some top names along the way! Also well done to Boyzi once again....just didnt fall for him from the break in the second half of our semi....After 6 racks we had broke and ran 3 each...boyzi didnt see the 1ball after that and i managed to break and run all my remainding racks. Finally, well done Daz Appleton for another top performance.....as usual, tough to beat for anyone who plays against him....which at the end of the day is what the name of the game is! -----------------

Sounds like a great event, well done to both dazzlers. For those of us who couldnt make it to the event, will the announcements and flyers etc on the future of uk pool be put on pro9?

Fantastic event once again. Shir has got to be congratulated for the professional manner in which she runs these events. Smooth as silk to coin a phrase.
Well done to Daryl and Darren, two of the best players on the planet and unfortunately one of them ran out of racks.
Big up also to Rileys Manager Gerorge and his excellent staff. This club is without doubt the best in the North of England. George is very house proud and you can tell, the club is spotless.
Can't wait for the next one......

thanks everyone in 9ball to win a tournament you need a bit of luck or opponent to make few mistakes at vital times esp under conditions we play to! another day craig osbourne would have took his chances and beat peach! and same with tony against me so we both had few things go our way! well done to gaz espirit good event from him!! final wasnt a classic i felt i played better than dazzler but 9ball strange game at times but was good tactical stuff and exciting for those watching! i was just relieved to win in the end i had control of the match from word go and cant afford to let the likes of dazzler come back at you because they punish you . well done to you dazzler on another final nice to be back playing because not played much at all since last euro tour some 4 weeks ago maybe longer! and couldnt make a ball in practise last week so a welcome win for me! also well done to everyone who atteneded! again have only played 2 events this season on bpppa this by far the best event have played on 9ball! great staff again top club who seem to love there pool esp george all look after us cant fault it and as a localish lad makes it more pleasing ! again riggers and shir done a great job and the future looks so bright and what lee is doing is just great the guy as a full time job but his trying to make our game better with limited time and what he is doing should be backed by everyone in uk if we want our game to get better and bigger then please get behind this i feel its our last chance and everyone should do what they can to help if we can get sponsors involved great maybe predator and even matchroom all would help!! this new tour as loads of potential and am 100% sure with the team in place it will work ,best thing is that there doing it for us the players and to get the game where it should be so thanks to lee and his team top stuff look forward to 2008! come on guys dip into your piggy banks and support the tour!onwards and upwards [ This message was edited by: dynamitedaz on 2007-07-30 00:16 ]

And may I say a big well done to Jon Mathers who narrowly lost to Daz Appleton 9-8 in the last 8. I really don't think this guy gets enough mention, he has recently entered the league and weekly tounrey I run in Solihull and has won it twice against a pretty tough field. So well done to Jon, keep it up mate and you'll be in your first final very soon.!! Andy Warden

Daz told me how disappointed he was he never got his picture on Pro9 after winning his last one so I promised we'd get some pics to BigD today. I hope they are ok because we were stuck with Mobile phone cameras! BigD - I'll send them to you later when I've been to Rileys to collect my laptop.
