tournament finished about an hour ago. wasnt good turn out. the feedback i got back from most of the players was very good. i hope these players will turn up to the next one and i hope to attract more players to these small events. was a very enjoyable event. will annonce the next event soon will be same race to 9s and still £10 entry. we didnt do double elimination today we did straight ko and a plate event for the first and second round losers. 18 entries.

plate event
winner= chris parke £20
runner-up= brett parsley £10 (mansfield)

main event
winner= mark hughes £100 (london)
runner-up=rob jude £60 (nottingham)

thanks to all the players that turned up today and hope to see u all again soon.

i went to event as i was local on the day and my only critisism would be that after posting on this thread the competition would be double elim, they changed their minds at last minute! Wiith so few runners they could of even done a double sided comp, ie so u could reach the final from both halves. Or even a round robin to make an event of it!

Having said that still an enjoyable day and nice crowd, staff.

tournament was always supposed to be straight ko. deano told people on here it was double elimination without asking the manager of the club. cos of all the hassle in running a double elim we just decided to do a plate event instead so players didnt go home early/ dissapointed

That may be but as small dave says if people are told one format this should be upheld, double ko to say the last 4 is hardly difficult to organise.

All in all it was an enjoyable day and the staff were great, it is just a shame the format wasn't a bit more adventurous than a straight ko.

As for the low turnout, maybe a slightly higher entry fee making a larger pirize fund might sway some of the others players who travel from further a field!
