or at least a pool player! A good pool player doesn't necessarily make a good commentator and vice versa. Roxton Chapman may well not be known as a pool player but he knows how to play. I saw him qualify for the WPC in Cardiff in 2003 and he then went on to win 5 of his seven group matches, losing only to Sin Young Park and Efren Reyes. In the final 64, he lost to Takahashi which is no disgrace.

Just got a text of Dyno this morning, he is over the moon. I suppose you would be with a guaranteed $30K. Why stop there though? The Brits have shown their class in this event and congrats to them all. How far can Daz go now? All the way? Who would back against him?
Good luck to Daryl and Rico (Part time Brit, he, he!) also.
AWAY THE LADS!!!! Rob Las Vegas and bring home the bacon.

Wow- Quinten surprisingly good. He won top of his group last round. I haven't seen a match that he has played, just wanted to see how he breaks as really showing what the snooker guys can achieve with some tweaks. It a pity the snooker body won't give him another chance considering he such a good player. But a bad a$$ [ This message was edited by: Kyo on 2006-07-28 11:32 ]

I saw him against Ronnie the other night and he is very good especially when making a ball off the break he knows the patterns and with him being a snooker player his potting was top notch. He will do well quite fancy him getting thru his next group.
Quinten when interviewed a couple of years back i recall him saying he never practices at snooker and always plays 9ball back home in oz and would rather go out and woo the ladies.
I am not sure but i think he has won the national titles for both 8 and 9ball pool.

I have always presumed that the IPT are muppets with putting Rico down as English.
I was wondering, is he actually representing England? Does he have dual nationality? Or is it just a silly mistake by the IPT Website Staff?

I don't know, maybe on his application he put down he lives in England and theve taken that as him being English. Goran Mladenovic is down as British but he is Serbian and Anthony Ginn is down as Australian when he is British. I think they have put down the nationality of where they qualified for some reason, however it is an easy mistake to make given that Goran and Mladenovic are very common English names. lol.

Just going back to the 'no phenolic tip rule', Ralf V Raj last night.....Ralf using his signature Mike Gulyassey Sledgehammer to break.
What is going on? Have the IPT relaxed the rule? Anyone?

I dont know what happened to that Si cause someone got docked a rack for using a phenolic break cue earlier in the tournament I think. Maybe cause he was playing so bad in that match they thought they'd leave the poor guy alone.

I believe the rule is if there is ANY leather in the cue tip then it is considered legal. I checked this as I have a BK2 which has a carbon-fibre/leather composite tip, and would be allowed on the IPT. Perhaps the new Gulyassey have just enough leather to keep the IPT happy? I think they should just scrap the whole rule and let people use phenolic tipped break cues. I dont see the problem the IPT have with it, it would improve the standard of breaking in the tournament which I believe has been relatively poor in terms of making balls.

So, just 18 left, who do you think will come out of the 3 groups?
My choices are:-
Group 79
Efren Reyes Quinten Hann (Much as I hate to say it!)
Group 80
Francisco Bustamente Ralf Souquet
Group 81
Marlon Manalo Alex Pagulayan
