That way you're not going to end up with potentially 2 low turn-out events and the ameteurs get a chance to play better players and improve and with a well worked out handicap may have a chance of winning a few matches. Yes in a way your right, your points do make sense and as these are my first tournys there will always be something to change or do different.Still by separating the amateurs and pros, it is a definate that amateurs will walk away with the money and thats what i wanted when setting up this event. If they want to play against better players they can always enter the pro event.Anyway thanks for your views hope to see you there.

Hi mate, Sadly to say at the moment there are not that many entries.Maybe do to the fact that im not doing any in advance payment. That could be the reason i don't know but im hoping that the majority of players will turn up on the day. It would of been easier for me to judge what kind of prize money i would be paying out if there were an advance payment structure, maybe next time i will do it like the Barnsley comp.

the other problem you may encounter is the fact that the midlands mosconi cup will steal 48 keen 9-ballers from you next sunday. i think with that and the fact there is one on saturday, you may struggle for numbers. its a 2 hour drive to manchester for me, i may have to go all the way in the comp to cover my petrol costs alone. i dont mean to sound negative because im really glad you are willing to put your time and effort into hosting events for us and il be their on the saturday comp and im really looking forward to it. im afraid i will have to withdraw from the sunday event as iv only just realised it clashes with the mosconi event. tom emes

I won Saturday event, beat Stu Colclough in the final, and Kevin Hew in the semi. In the other semi Stu beat James Kay. It was a very good turn out for the first one with some good sticks on show.....including a few suprise entrants from afar. Off the top of my head: Daryl Peach Stuart Colclough James Kay Kevin Hew Anthony Ginn Karl Boyes Lee Rigby Simon Widlow Simon D'vali Tom Emes Gary Stewart There were 29 runners in all but as you can see from the short list above there were some top players present! Groups, then double KO, then a straight KO for last 8....It was great practice, and i really enjoyed it. Look forward to the next one!......and i hope it was as good on the Sunday for the "amateur" event. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: dazzler on 2007-05-28 09:31 ]

Yes I agree, this event was better than I expected mainly due to the standard of players that turned out. Well done again, Dazzler.

very well run and excellent value for money with a group stage, double and single elimination all combining to make a fun filled exciting event. well done to daryl peach and stuart colclough for pasting both me and the rest of the field. i saw kev hew play for the first time and was impressed big time! i would urge a lot more players to make the trip up next time as although the event wasnt marketed as being anything special, it turned out to be a very high standard and competitive days poolage. thanks to sneaky pete for your efforts mate.
