But I'm a lesbian woman, so prefer comfortable shoes ... all joking aside, I do hope to make this my first ept event along with a fairly big crowd from st albans ... so I think this is going to be a big one.

In answer to your question - we need to encourage more females into the game and into our events. We need to help grow this game which is why juniors will also have the opportunity to enter at a discount. I do not believe that there are any females in The UK (at this time) that play this game full time or are favourite to win an EPT event, thus the discount. If any top players decide to attend from Europe or USA, ie Jasmin, I believe they would deserve the discount for their efforts! Obviously when top uk female players are able to compete with top male players at the top level, then we will look at this again.
Please remember that The EPT is a loss making venture but I hope that we have further demonstrated our commitment to the game by increasing prize fund and adding the free flyer. This has never been a moneymaking excercise for me and I am not in this for ego, I just love pool so give myself and Daryl your support by coming to this next event, it's going to be a great one.
I believe that in a few years from now it will be possible to earn a good living from pool. Being involved with The EPT and many of the top UK Players, I have always wanted to be a part of making this happen. Both myself and Daryl have ideas that may help bring it to the masses - but this will not happen overnight and we need to be able to show the media that the game is gaining popularity. We can only do this with your help. For now. I don't mind losing and looking for that 1 angle that will turn this sport into a household name, your loyalty to the EPT gives me the enthusiasm to continue to invest my money and my time. Please understand that anything we do, discouts for women, juniors, wheelchair etc is not to take anything away from you, it is because we believe it is good of the game and will bring attention to the game. As always, please do let me know if you disagree with anything in my post or mail myself or Daryl if you want to share.
Hope to see you all in Harrow!
God Bless
Mark Segal I agree that we need to encourage players and grow this great sport to its full potential, have you thought of paying a prize to top female, junior and wheelchair finisher.Aswell as a dicount to enter you will give them more motivation to enter your tournaments.

Mark I wanted to know if there are also tournys that are for amateurs with less entry fee.If you are an amateur and want to get some experience isnt it a bit expensive to go from a house tourny(£10) to a pro tourny(60-90).How come there is nothing in the middle,i think for 1 you will get more players involved and 2 you are doing your bit in promoting the sport to a broader field. At the end of the day i dont think you should think of organizing tourny from a proplayers point of view, they want to play big tournys because they know they have a good shot of winning. At the end of the day its not about the money but getting as much players involved with the sport.

You have the APN leagues if you wanted to step up from club tournamants to a better standard withhout taking the step up to the EPT etc. Plus there is going to be a challenge tour with the EPT next year which im sure somebody from the EPT will inform you about on here shortly. If the apn is all we got it doesnt look to good .We should look at other countries were pool has really took off, holland ,germany.Holland is a lot smaller than the Uk but in the poolworld we are no match for them, the same goes for germany they have tournys everyday for all levels of the game.Over here your lucky to get 1 house tourny a month.Theres enough to do for top players but there is nothing for your beginner /average. Ps that apn looks like a right drag 12 weeks of going to your localclub to play 1-2 matches..It doesnt make sense to me.

Tony "Tornado" Drago has entered the EPT London Open! We have also had enquiries from a number of top Snooker pro's besides the Tornado! This event is set to be the biggest and best ever EPT! -----------------

Can you suggest a better option and have you tried it? In the absence of anything else, the APN appears to be a step in the right direction and as for value for money and competition, its ideal for getting people involved at the lower levels of the game. So a big thanks to the leap of faith taken by the guys running/injecting the cash into it. The EPT challenge tour should offer something for those in the mid-range skill bracket but until that happens........? [ This message was edited by: lancaster_bomber on 2007-03-13 11:02 ]

The apn is undoubtedly a step in the right direction, whilst imho it may have some pretty major flaws, i know i personally have learnt from playing competitvely on a more regular basis against some very competent players.
As for the EPT, i think the challenge tour is a huge step in the right direction as it allows 'lesser' players to compete at a decent level in professionally run events. I also think the free sunday flyer is an excellent idea as it gives everybody who doesnt reach the last 16 a second chance

What i suggest is in stead of playing the apn as it is now, take a look how we do Bpppa do this version but then only for amateurs. For example 12 tournys a year per county with ranking and finalranking(there are a few options were you get even better value for your money). Also why are there no open tournys like in Holland,as well as the teamleague(proleague,div1,div2 etc),ranking tournys(knbb),there are also open tournys there must be at least 6 of them a year. The Mickey Flinns was an open tourny...but who wants to pay £500to get battered in the 1st round.

Mickey Flyns run their own series of open events too on Sundays where entry is just £25. Details have been posted on this site. Also Shir will be running an open tournament at the new Riley's in Barnsley sometime soon for a similar entry fee and with a good (boosted) prize fund (just like Mickeys). The problem with these open tournaments is fitting them into the calendar. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-03-13 12:45 ]

talking of open events. does anyone know if there is due to be a largely fielded, big prize funded 9-ball event in the uk this year. i read on the bpppa website something about a british open and a uk championship aswell. anyone know anything about it a t all?

You seem to know whats needed.....maybe you should run an amateur tour yourself!.....at the end of the day, talk is cheap and action is needed to make things happen! -----------------
