500 £ is like 5500 Norwegian kroner. It's really expensive, but hey, people are gambling all the way. Just another day here one guy lost that amount here at ElbowRoom [ This message was edited by: RugRat on 2006-11-16 02:19 ]

On 2006-11-13 17:19 , Riggers Wrote:!!! QUOTE !!! This sounds like the english 8 ball JFK Masters event. That tournament was hugely successful and I expect this one will be too but it might be touch and go as to whether you'll get 32. Best of luck with it Boyzone.
It might be fun to start making a list of who we think are possible entrants ....
1. Appleton 2. Boyes 3. Hill 4. Peach 5. Hundal 6. Majid 7. Gray 8. Morris 9. Worthington 10. Holtz 11. Donlan 12. Raybone 13. Shaw 14. McKenna 15. Barnet 16. Harrison 17. Melling 18. Chilton 19. Saleh 20. Singh 21. Paddy 22. Valentine 23. Drago
Maybe some europeans? Chamat, Van Den Berg, Immonen?
I'd be surprised if you got all those above to attend and even if you did I'm really struggling to think of some more who are likely to pay such a large entry fee. Who've I missed? What about Ronnie?

Anyone will be welcome and if Ronnie wants to enter then that would be great, me and Boyzi will discuss it this weekend so you should have more news next week but it is going ahead, and we already have had firm enquires saying we are entering, I can see this being popular so anyone who would play in this with the £500 entry fee then pm me your detils and you will have first refusal, (remember it is the first 32 and already we have 17 names on the list..... I am also working on sponsorship and have two possibilities so get in now while you can. Snooker players I have spoke to have already said they would like to play, one of them I spoke to in Prestatyn at the Snooker Dominic Dale is also intersted in coming over.

Are you playing Sparkey? Can we have a 100% guarantee that the prizes will be paid out after the tournament and not in £5 per week installments for the next 10 years

I will be running it, (it would not be fair if the organiser took home the jackpot.. ha ha) With 32 although yet to be finalised at £500 per man it will be along the lines of. Winner....... £6000 R/Up.......... £3300 Semi's........ £2000 Quarters..... £600
Total Payout.... £15,700
£300 will be for Referee Admin etc, although if I get sponsorship in place then that will cover the latter.
Would love players ideas who are interested in playing, give me your thoughts on entry and payout format we will listen, and anyone intersted in Sponsorship would be great.
Riggers.. All payouts will be made on the day to the players.

Well if you have the 17 big guns in there I still wonder where you'll get another 15 that are going to compete with them for that kind of dosh. It would be nice if there were payouts down to last 16 and a better reward for getting to the quarters then you might attract some wanna be 'big guns' e.g.: Winner 5000 R/up 2500 Semis 1250 Quarters 750 Last 16 350 OK, it costs an extra £100 - get a cheaper referee! I think times have changed and its great to see players who play in the UK running tournaments to make more oppotunity & options.
I think with the right ways we could be a big nation for tournaments and I think were going the right way but still a long way to go yet and we would all need help.
Your tournament the rough idea of the format, entry fee etc... To see such big names in a comp like this would be awsome. Would be great to watch. If anyone can enter how do u class yourself as a grand master?
but...
If you say its open to anyone the only field you will attract is the big names who think about ££££ and do well all the time in tournaments... Come on how many same names do we see win things over here?
If you are looking for a tournament for the big players I suggest u make it invitational and every player pays the requierd amount in advance so u know who's gurenteed in it.
If u want to think & include of others not just you top players yourselfs... Not everyone has this much money to go in an event like this. or u just thinking money money because u type of players can make it easy.
I know this is a tournament for put your money where your mouth is.
All I have heard lately from loads of players is moaning about money & slagging tours off... What ever happend to the love of the game?
Are we becoming a money grabbing nation these days?
For all of those who have gone on about it heres your chance... Spin the wheel make a deal here's a tournament for all of you that have moaned all about it.

are you going to give us 'poor' players, a qualifier to gain a wild card like they do in snooker for a chance to play against the grand masters??

Now that is a good idea - Its what the apn did to get entry into the (non-prize-money-giving IPT.
But here you would know you'd be getting the chance to win some real cash (that is paid within minutes of the event finishing rather than the following year) if you got a good draw. However would it be 'cheap' grand masters entering to see if they could save £500 first?

I think holding one or two qualifiers is a great idea. I'd certainly be interested in that and I would think many other players would too.
Maybe have one in the South at Victoria, one in the Midlands at Solihull and one in the North at Stretford (Manchester). £25 to enter and places awarded depending on how much entry money is received.
This could grow into a really big event with so much prize money up for grabs.
