Correct me if I am wrong but if we get a 64 field then you have to win only 2 matches on Saturday.... Is this the right move Mr Jones? and if its a 32 field then only 1 win and you go away and come back the next day? I want you to max this out but I am struggling to see the logic behind a 2 day event, wouldn't it be better to make it an action packed 1 dayer instead with more passion and drive on a one day rather than a possible 1 game win then having to twiddle their thumbs for the rest of the day and night? Please read this in a positive manner as I really like the comps at Mickeys but I can see why alot of people might opt out of this......Thoughts?

rich, phils probably right if you do not get many runners, especially for those driving a long way...another idea is do the main comp in one day ie saturday then do a seperate comp on sunday handicapped based on saturdays results....giving us muppets a chance against you big guns ! Rob, still licking my wounds from our last encounter.

Liking Fatrobs idea..... i guess you just have to wait until Saturday to check the turnout before making any decisions.
Indi - what time you starting Saturday? at least if you stipulate a decent start time ie:10am/10.30am start then you could get the whole thing done in a day if needed and then have the chance of a 2nd comp the following day!
cant see you getting 64? or even 44? - hope im wrong. but im sure youve already thought about all the concerns above and will let everyone know in due course....
Ossie..... simmering, just trying to find the heat to get to boiling point in time for manilla....

yeah thanx for your concerns phil but do you think im stupid?
i said that if there are 64 then thats how the comp will go, but i did say i would post the draw friday to let eveyone know start times.
im not going to say its one-day in case 40 people enter in the next two days.
if we get 50 or less then it will be played just on the saturday,
format, will be confirmed friday
cheers anyway

Mr Indiana Jones..could I possibly make a suggestion...looking at two new names joining the comp, mainly Mr Diks and Mr Majid to add to the already listed Mr Hew (recent winner), your good self (recent winner), Mr Ginn (top player), Mr Osbourne (top player) etc etc etc while you do not have a massive list of runners why not try something different..split us up into two groups..very good and good. Someone like me is not going to win-lets face it..I would try but lets be realistic. Although it is always an honour to play people like Imran and Rico, it would sometimes be nice to enter a competition where I could have a fair chance of winning. May be the two finalists of the 2nd group(the non big guns) could go into the half of the big guns to have a crack at the big guns and the title , the winner however of the 2nd group getting a prize for winning the 2nd group comp. What do you think....?

Fat Rob I can't believe I'm reading this. This Isn't a kiddies school sports day with a special prize for the egg and spoon race. The muppets like me you speak of are paying good money for the chance to play top players. If you really don't like losing, I suggest you take up pub pool instead.

To be honest, Rob is getting what he wants anyway....double elim will generally sort the better players out anyhow, and that way the lesser players can still reach the big final

at the moment 26 players have put their names down so the format will go like this: am gonna do it like the derby city classic where they re-draw each round, and instead of the buy back option you just get an automatic extra-life. hope you know what i mean. its still double-elim but with this format you dont know who you gonna play in each round, which adds a new dimension 1st place = £450 plate comp for 2nd and 3rd match losers will do the draw at 10:45 for an 11am start doors open 9:45am event will be on one day sat 20th (no play sunday) [ This message was edited by: indiana on 2007-10-19 18:13 ]
