I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who turned out at the weekend and continues to support the BPPPA events as we make the transition to the GB9BT. The turnout was particularly poor this time but, though we were naturally dissappointed with this, the tournament was very enjoyable and the standard was as high as ever. In the end it was still a really enjoyable day. Very well done to Dynamite for yet another win (I'm struggling to remember the last time he lost!) and also a very creditable second place to Jonathan who played well all day. I played Jonathan earlier in the day and it was a typical match involving him! I started quite strongly, as did he, then I took advantage of a couple of bad breaks to edge in front and no matter what you do you just cannot shake him off! A couple of dry breaks later from me, which Jonathan duly dished, followed by a break and dish saw him edge in front 7.6, then I broke and dished my break to level at 7.7, hill-hill, and sat in my chair praying for a dry break. Despite lots of balls rolling towards the pockets nothing went in and I sprang out of my chair to dish up... all the way to the 8 then tweaked! Jonathan dished up from there of course. Even though I was annoyed with myself I have to say no one deserved to lose that match and I'm glad Jonathan went on to the final because he was playing so well. I played quite well in patches but too many silly mistakes were costing vital racks, which was the story of my match with Dynamite. One mistake is likely to cost you a match against him but 3 is way too much! It was also nice to see some new-comers. Craig Dixon, a good local english pool player, entered his first ever american 8 ball tournament having only had a small amount of practice with a mates cue and he did himself proud for his first effort. Just like 'Striker' another excellant english pool 'cueist', these players have the potential to make a real impact in the game here and across europe. Well played Craig. The standard of pool is rising very fast in this country now and you see it at every event. I think a lot of this is down to talents like Mark & Darren showing that you can switch codes and make an impact and this has really pushed the established stars like Daryl, Imran etc to improve too. It really is brilliant to see and you just can't imagine how good the new tour is going to be if everyone continues at this rate! Let's look forward to Nottingham now and get everyone out there in force to make it a big event. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2007-08-13 09:28 ]

Congrats to Shir and Lee on another seamlessly run tourny. A small turnout but a hugely enjoyable day nonetheless. Don't know what to say about that 8 Lee. I've been there and know what it feels like - not nice. You did well to come through the losers bracket and not let it totally phase you though. Congrats to Daz - class act, cool as a cucumber, and bloody annoying as he never misses . The semi against Mark would have been a different story but he just couldn't buy a ball off the break. Cheers, Jonathan.
