May I ask why you would want to clash with the above pool events ? ;-)

The best and probably one of the few ways you can check to see if there is another international tournament on the dates that you are interested in is the EPBF website calendar.
I am pretty sure that when Gareth was planning this (several months ago when he rang me), there was nothing on the EPBF calendar.
Even now the so called European Masters is only a possible with no venue and a time period of two weeks and the HOB tournament doesn't even figure at all.
Would it not be better if serious organisers used this website (EPBF) to advertise serious tournaments.
Perhaps HOB and others don't do it because there is a cost of 200 euros??
In which case maybe we need a dedicated Tournament Calendar website!

Unfortuntely I think the answer is for Gareth to pay the EPBF to make it a sanctioned tournament so it becomes part of their official calendar. That would give it some protection against date clashing.

to me the answers simple.
play on the same date, but make dam sure the prize money is bigger.
call thier bluff, make them sit up and look at uk events and organise theirs around ours.
answer this, if the moneys bigger where will the top players play?
and another thing, top uk pool players have wanted this so im sure they will play here and not abroad on that w/e
my thoughts on the event....different, and i like that.
heres one, if your a betting man, 100 quid in, 32 players, winner take all, 1 frame, 8ball, best of 5 lag....should be fun

I agree with that. It is good to see someone sticking up for the UK. The EPBF vision of only their events being officially recognised is holding the game back. What is needed is a lot of events with date clashes, giving players a choice of where they can play.
I would like to ultimately see major events every week on every continent. That is the only way to drive prize money upwards.
Not like the scenario we had a couple of years ago when European players were told that they could not play in a US event because it clashed with an event in Japan. Go figure. Go Gareth! DLTBGYD

and another thing b4 i have to go out, maybe uk players will think of the entry fee...hmm
so you decide to go to the epbf event instead, 150 entry, say 140 flight, 4 nights hotel, transfers, must come to near 500 or more.
so not much diffrence except your supporting uk pool which is what everyone talks about here or will the big boys play in europe for the ego trip

@ Malaguista:

The Open Weert tournament is for the 9th consecutive year in the last weekend of January!
And i am paying the 200 euro's for 9 years now, so don't think i am not awear of that.
And Gareth should now that, he even played in it...
But he has a fist full of dollars and a nice sponsor and probably don't care about other peoples respected and long running tournaments.
I informed Gre earlier this year to put the Open Weert on the Calendar, but he told me he could not give me green light and confirm it, because of the World Tour and European masters.
My date is on the website www.openweert.com also for several months now...

Hi Dynamite, we have had a really good response from players so far via my mail address, and by my contacts via phone.

darkside9@hotmail.co.uk

And as of yet i cant confirm the names and numbers until i get the posters out worldwide, then the proof will be in the pudding.

Remember im only looking for a minimum 32 players

Gareth
