No Riggers I wont be travelling down for the event, it's not worthwhile in my eyes but good for locals or within short driving distance IMO.

Good luck with it and all other events you and Shir organise.

I was merely just adding to the forum that "guaranteed" and "subject to" shouldn't be used in any pool event promotion - surely you can see the basic sense in this?

Hi,
Well I'd love the event to be real just so as I could stay in the Ritz for £50 a night (see recommended hotels in the post). That'd be some reduction!!!

Sorry if that's a bit off topic,
Chris.

well, its either "prize money based on no.of entries" or 1 or 2 comps every 6 months because we dont have the sponsors in this country to put up guranteed prizefunds...

We would all love guranteed prize pools but it aint gonna happen that often so why even put up a thread about it?

see what your sayin but unless your blind or cant read then you will see that most of the time people will state how many runners they have at each event in stages so you can see what kind of prize pool there will be.

providing people continue to do this then players can make up their own mind if travelling is worth it or not.

another thought - its not always about the money, i have travelled to many events this year where the prizemoney was not in my mind, i simply wanted to get tournement matchplay practice for when i go to the big events on Eurotour. and they have helped....

lookin forward to the next events coming up...

keep em coming, really impressed with all the events up and down the country recently - its actually quite disappointing when we have a sunday without a comp going on now?

Oz

Ossie, there is a comp at Rileys Stretford tomoz (Sunday)....it is one of those subject to entries ones :-D .... its only about 5 hours drive there and 5 hours back for you!.....would be good match practice for you.....and i would even take your pants down for you at Straight pool in the "green room" :-P :-P

Just jokin pal.....you know that ;-)

I dont wanna get "touchy" here, but i agree with nearlyman, WORTHY, and Devil......When you actually think about it, this "subject to entries" just make the £??? prize money a mirage!!!

Why not just state that all entries in all entries out instead of trying to make a tourny look bigger than it actually is going to be....if you can't guarantee the prize money?

Lol - very funny Dazzler - im on my way mate,
ill be there tonite if you fancy a game!!!

"All moneys in paid put?" that would would work providing you stated:
How many entries so far
what you are paying out to - last 8, last 4 etc
50% to winner 25% runner up and so on...

The whole point of a "Based on 32 entries" etc is just to give an indication of what people could win.

what frustrates me is when people say based on anything above 32 entries, as these are hard to come by at the moment.

appreciate both angles....

Daz - wish i was comin to Stretford mate, 8 hours driving in one day there and back in a one dayer (Cant wait for that!) and i was seriously considering it - but that is a bit too much i think.

gd luck with the comp - hope it goes well.

I state my tournament subject to 32 entries because i knew that this was a good possibility..
I'd never promote a tournament subject to 64 entries because it's not realistic here unfortunately...
I know i could get those entries when i promise a £1000 to the winner.. but i have to stay real...

One tip for anybody that wants to organise tournaments:
try to find the balance between the format, entry fee and the pay out...

I still struggle with it sometimes... ;)
