Oh yeah ......... GET IN THERE DINGY SON!!! I'd like to see 9ball played with 8ball rules. No flukes, nomination and no 9ball combo's. But then i guess most the choppers would pull their face. [ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2007-02-05 19:00 ]

You have to remember when you compare to the other tour (BPPA) to the EPT entry fee of £90 you have to consider a few things, for one the EPT is a far more professionally run tour who always ensure the club is up to standard and the tables are in top nick, this is not so on the 9-ball tour, also you only have to win one match to win back your entry fee, now surely choppers as we are so called or if you want the lesser player have a much better chance of recouping the entry more that any other tour in the UK. compare the £90 entry fee over 6 events compared to BPPA which if I am not mistaken is ten events, £45 entry fee x 10 plus the membership fee which gets you nothing whilst the EPT do not have a membership, and on the EPT you only have to pay for travel cost however far only six times compared to the BPPA 10 times and for people living south side of Birmingham it has to be so expensive getting to Manchester that often, whilst the EPT has unfairly suffered from the people complaining about it being in the North again at Liverpool, the EPT if you look have spread it fairly around the country, ie Harrow, Solihull, Manchester and next again back to Harrow in March/April, I was at the desk for a short while whilst Mark Mills was doing the flyer and a lot of people were asking for 9-ball and I did not hear one object to this including myself, if Cusack147 did not want 9-ball all he had to do was say and it would have stayed 8-ball, at the end of the day I have no problem paying a slightly higher entry when I only have to win one match with a chance to win my money back now that has to be value in my book, Beore I go a great big well done to the staff at Rileys and especially the EPT organisers, Daryl Peach & Mark Mills and to Mark Segal for supporting this excellent tour.

STOP Calling People Chopers. That is discrimanating a persons game.
The right term to use is weaker players or lower ranked players.
Everyone stop moaning about 9ball. Be delightful what Daryl has given you all. I think we do have alot of 9ball and not enough experince in the other disiplines as a nation in American pool.
Daryl said him & the rest of EPT team are looking into doing EPT 9ball for the future and have taken it into account and on board.
Its an 8ball tour accept it! Keep up the good work Daryl & the EPT Team. Hope to see you all at EPT Harrow.

Just like to say thanks to Daryl and the EPT team for a quality weekend. I have played all over the uk and parts of europe in English 8 ball comps: and this first experience at liverpool has got me hooked. The whole set up makes you want to invest your money, as the conditions were first class.
Only complaint.......How the the devils playground do you pot off the break everytime. Suppose i will learn as time goes by.
Thanks again to all involved.

I think this has all the making of a great tour and this is why I'm glad I attended. The standard is top drawer and although I can understand why many people were put off, it has to be said that if you want to improve your game then you've got to play against the best players...I would perhaps be in favour of double elimination given that from 7-3 up I had four more shots....yeah, I'd better improve my break!

very well done to ben davies and a top bloke too..
very well done to mr peach and staff very professional and great that worthy runs a book next time ill take more doe to try and get my doe back pal..
first walked in club i thought wheres the tables i could only see english 8ball thought must have wrong club ha,got to say without doubt its by far the best club in uk and definatley up there with some very nice clubs in europe..tables were spot on and great staff and also perfect venue to watch pool if ur a spectator..
few things i would personally like to see change which i breifly spoke to daryl about, somtimes its hard when his busy and where all playing etc
changes for me to ept would be
go back to same prize fund as last year winner 2k r-up 1200 sf 700 qf 400 last 16 250
this years its winner 1.5k r-up 800? sf 475 qf 285 l16 180 l 32 90
also i think the rules are too easy with the size of the pockets we are playing on and brand new cloth
i would like to see the following changes
1.not been able to play a stripe onto a spot or vice verser at start of the rack after the break
2.if scratch of the break should after play from behind the baulk line
3.maybe double elimination to last 16 race to 7 or 8. then races to 10 last 16 onwards final race to 11
would people prefer winner breaks or alternate if we had the above rules??
but once again well done to ept!

ParsleySause, to say you only have to win 1 match to get your money back is not always going to be true. Remember 10 of us had to win 2 this weekend and most of those 10 found themselves against a player of the calibre of Peach, Appleton, Gray etc after their prelim. If turnouts do improve it will be a lot more than 10 players who have to win more than 2 matches to get their money back. With the quality of the field the EPT attracts you have to have a very good draw, be a seriously good player or play your very best to be winning 2 matches IMO. I think this is part of the problem with asking people to pay £90 and why Lefty had a very good point. Lower the entry fee and you'll attract more of the average players for sure. Increase the entry fee and prize fund and you are targetting serious pros (and people who don't care about the money). Like lefty said this tour is now picthed somewhere in the middle so by increasing the entry fee you've not really added enough to the prize fund to attract pros / semi pros from long distances (Holtz a good example) but what you have done is scare off many of the mediocre players / wannabees. I've always said I want to improve so will continue to support EPT events so long as I can afford it but I now really have to question whether I can justify Harrow when this includes extra fuel and hotel on top. So when I think about Harrow I guess I'm thinking the same thing as many of my southern friends when they decided to give Liverpool a miss. Harrow will probably attract a higher field because there are more players to go at down there - about 85 runners would be my guess. Solihull will be the interesting one because most English players will be within a couple of hours or less travelling distance. I like the idea of having a Pro event (Say £150) and an open event (say £50) and maybe an ameteur event at £20. At that level and with everyone having a chance at at least 2 tournaments I could see EVERYONE embracing it and making a weekend of it. [ This message was edited by: shir on 2007-02-05 19:46 ]

The flyer payout was, Winner : £250 R/Up : £130 Semi F : £50 Q/F : £20 Guys if you want to keep the flyer 8-ball then just tell me at the next event, I had not one objection given to me at the desk otherwise if I had it would have been 8-ball, I am not a mindreader. PS Mr Gray you did not reply to my text..
