barry thanks for that, i think we have convinced them to change the w/chair races to 6 in 8/10 ball, not much time for more, as for jasmin, she only !! won 3 of 4 she entered, hopefully we have wheelchair gold next year, none of us played well in the 5 semis, but jouni tahti is good enough to compete with the top men players, and henrick is not far behind, but we are catching them slowy. im proud to have captained/managed the GB team, i was poor all week and glad to get a medal, not sighting or cueing well, roy played well in patches, but not against the big guns, played hot and cold, but he will be back stronger. Aslam I thought would get a final maybe a gold, but he played not at his best in 2 semis, and you haver got to be at your best at the EC. Duffy and Danny had some good results.

Thanks for support guys all in all the event was very enjoyable and it was great to be around some of the best players in the world. On a personal level glad to becoming home with 2 medals but a little disappointed with my consistency. You have to give credit to Larsson and Tatti they are always there or there abouts year after year. Hoping to get my own table in the next few months so maybe next years I'll be playing well enough to get the gold again. Thanks to Tony for his stirling job as team captain and to the rest of the team as the sprit was really good.

has anyone got any views on how we can increase the UK team at the euros, i.e have some more of the top men, some ladies, as we already have 5 wheelchair players, in a field of 18, and we could probably have more if we had the money

Tony - what is your estimate of the total cost of sending 1 player to the EC for, say, 3 disciplines including all hotel, flights, transfers and entry fees? [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2011-04-04 14:14 ]

lee for this event in euros
330 fees (3 x 110) 30 transfer 420 (sharing a double room 10 nights, more if doing 4 disciplines) 150 flights
930 euros (about £850) before u have brought any meals and drink etc say £25 min per day, so £250 so thats £1100
I would like to know how the other countries afford it, the germans even had their own coach and separate physio !!
They send their top players, ralf, ortman etc, but no one gives any details of how they manage to fund it.
We had to sctatch around to get a shirt for butch that had an acceptable GB flag on it. Any views on how we can change for the better

What you have to remember is that in their countries they have tens of thousands of players and also governments in some cases contributing to a national federation. In this country we have 2 other cuesports that take the limelight and only a few hundred regular American Pool players. If all the english pool players switched to American Pool tomorrow then things would be very different. We have to start from the bottom and build up the player base but it's not easy when English Pool is the dominant game. That's where we have to start if we are to change things. And that's the job of a good national federation. It means a lot of work from the board of a national federation with a lot of volunteer help IMO. We given you a great tour. Now we need people to offer their time and energy into building a great federation. [ This message was edited by: Riggers on 2011-04-04 15:58 ]

some great pics of the whole event, some even scarier than the one on the front page, with scott higgins and dave carter in the background.
