Congrats Daryl, stayed up to watch both your busta matches and the final, amazing TV! Almost on a par with the Taylor Davis snooker final, gripping stuff.
I watched u miss an easy ball a couple of years ago in Kaoshung to go through (forgot match) but you certainly made up for that with the last 2 racks in both these two matches. Great clearances!

also why doesn't karl have one? Its probably because pro 9 only done the profiles for a little time a while back. Karl probably wasnt as involved as he is now. Same as Raj Hundal, he doesnt have one either

I’ve been away all weekend and just got back. Totally chuffed for Dazzler. Wow, that was one of the most exciting matches I’ve ever seen - a complete Thriller in Manila. It’s the accumulation of years of dedication, determination, guts, skill and a touch of luck. To be 8-3 up and then 12-15 that was harsh. Also taking on the hostile crowd (It was like the film Zulu) at that moment it felt like it was Dazzler against the world. But did he choke? Did he crumble? No he roared back in defiance. The British Bulldog had come too far to give up. Guts, sheer strength of character and Yorkshire grit pulled him through. He fought for his dream and won. I was honestly choked. I always believed in him even at 12-15 down. But I feared another ‘Jimmy White’ moment. But he marched forward to Victory. It was poetic that he won it exactly at the moment the world was saluting the hero’s of the wars. The winning moment came in the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th Month. Daryl Peach, 9-Ball World Champion, an inspiration to us all. Showing everyone that dreams can come true. So when is the open top bus coming to town?

Well i've avoided the pool websites for the past couple of days, i had recorded the final and didnt want to know the result before watching it. Well i've seen it now and all i can say is WOW!! What an achievement. To beat the players that you beat is simply magnificent. And to beat them in their back yard, different class. The match against Busta was surely the defining moment of the week, something i'll remember for many years to come. Nothing i can say that hasnt been said here already, but i have one question for you Daryl.......................... How good was Matjaz Erculj??????????? Daz - congrats again mate - just unreal.
Boyzi - i feel for this kid, we cannot forget that apart from Daz winnin he has also put in the best EVER UK performance at the worlds! - a great achievement that we must not let slide under the radar either... These 2 should get all the recognition they deserve for their efforts.
Ossie - Live, Ringside for every b.loody battle, watching philipinos being eaten alive by an English Lionheart.....

Well I would like to add to all the other congratulations on here for Daryl and Karl.......both guys played brilliantly all week and fully deserve the plaudits ringing around the globe. I didn't manage to catch all the matches but when I did get a free moment I was out there watching & supporting both. This achievement by Daryl is just surreal......winning the WPC 2207 in the back yard of what is considered the home of the best players on this planet......and Daryl put 4 of them to the sword along the way including the defending champion. Your a star mate and I hope that you get all the riches you deserve for winning this crown. I would also like to say it was great to share the highs alongside Des, Craig and my Shirley. Maybe the world will wake up the talent that is shinning through from the UK pool scene. Dazzler........gonna get more seasoning now! Machine........."look at this frikin guy".......class!

I've said this on another post. But I'm sure Karl getting to the semis was a massive part of Dazzler winning the crown. They must of inspired each other on. So close to an all English final how surreal would that of been? You'd be locked up if you suggested it was possible. Dazzler really has opened the door for others to follow next year. Who's up for nicking Mr Peaches world 9-ball crown!!! [ This message was edited by: expertfluke on 2007-11-13 23:11 ]

It's hard to add anything to what's already been said but... Having been glued to the TV during the WPC's every year since 2000, this year's finals have really upped the ante! How more perfect could it have been? 1. Daryl Peach - 2007 World Champion! - Think about it... World Champion. How many can say that? Daryl, you're the best pool player in The World right now, you've earned the title. And... shown how great the game can be. Congratulations!!! But remember - With great power comes great responsibility... heh, heh... 2. Karl Boyes - 3rd Place. If Karl had been offered 3rd place at the start of the tournament do you think he'd have taken it? Neither do I! Question to Boyzi? Do you think you'd have gotten so far if it wasn't for the intense training-ground at the Scottish Champs last month? Well done mate! You've reached a dizzy height most of us can only dream of. English maybe, but I think Pat & I (along with the SAPPA massive) will accept you as one of the Bhoyz... 3. Pat Holtz - Commentator Extraordinaire. I'm sure all will agree that Pat's commentary was both knowledgeable and entertaining. Not only that, but Pat seems to have a 'sixth sense' when predicting shots - maybe the players can hear him from the booth! Pat, you were great! Pity about the match results, but maybe (in a bizarre twist of fate) you've found that pool's not for you, and you've found your true beckoning... Just kidding mate! You're still 'The Man To Beat' on Scottish soil - just wait til MY pool room's finished though... All in all, the best WPC so far - for many reasons. But most of all... LAYDEEZ & GENTLEMEN.... THE 2007 WORLD POOL CHAMPION... MR. DARYL PEACH!!!!!!!!Gawn yersel big man! x BS

First off, what a great achievement. It must be quite something when a dream becomes a reality... when all those long hours on the practice table over the years are rewarded with the ultimate prize. Thanks for putting the game on the map Daryl, a great personal achievement but also I'm hoping a great boost to the promotion and adoption of the game over here. I wanted to read all about his victory, but so far I'm only really seeing coverage in the international media, which is really sad.. I mean we have a new world champ in our midst, we should be capitalizing on this, reveling in it, spreading the word of 9-ball, I guess we are still too small a community . Domestically, I found just one small article in the Times ( First British world champion produces ‘Thrilla in Manila’) and one BBC Lancashire local article ( Peach is the cream of 9 Ball!). This is truly sad... Still small baby steps in the UK I suppose, maybe we collectively just don't get it?!... our community is still too small... Maybe we are only able to get patriotic about international football, rugby and cricket!? I mean indoor bowls is probably more popular right? Maybe we should start a campaign to vote him "Sports Personality of the Year", I mean if Phil "The Power" Taylor is nominated for what truly is a pub sport, why not Daryl for his achievements in our great game of 9 ball. I imagine the coverage and the promotion of a new world champ would have been very different if Bustamante had not messed up getting from the 2-ball to the 3 in rack 22 in the quarters against Daryl ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_MEqa-OYro) - I think we would have seen a very different reaction to a Philippines victory. He'd have probably had a bus parade in Manila, rose petals scattered by his feet, and would have been immortalized in the eyes of his nation. I have just emailed the BBC to ask why they have not covered the win at all either TV or online.
I don't suppose I'll get a reply but will post it on here if I do!

Sky have been covering it on Sky Sports news and I think Daryl has done an interview with them since returning. Can't really expect much more than that. It's the newspapers that disappoint me. When you look at some of the pathetic stories they print that are not at all newsworthy yet they can't find a few column inches in their sports page for this achievement. I wonder if that's down to matchroom?

I've had the Observer Sport Monthly on the phone wanting a little info, apparently there'll be a small piece published in their November 25th issue.
I've tried getting stuff published before, well written articles with professional photos too, and even the local papers just give you the "run around".

Spoke to Boyzi this morning...and he hasn't his phone with him where he is at the moment. He's gone up to the island that lefty lives on. They're off scubba diving today So in case you think he's been all quiet or you're missing his charm and tact (illness, can't wait, happy days, etc) he'll be back on pro9 with more cheeky chat soon! Like everyone else on here he is well chuffed for Pear but he'll tell daryl himself what an amazing achievement winning was! Phil8ball - he says all the UK guys were cheering him on! There were no seats left so he was sat in the press/players box. The wolf whistling wasn't Daz - three girls were wolf whistling everytime he went to the table against Gomez Regarding press coverage - Matchroom have sent out very comprehensive releases and images. you can't fault them at all. I reckon Dazzler has done as much as is physically possible since he returned...I think he's going to be a very busy boy this year! There's been a piece on the BBC Lancashire website, he did an interview on BBC Radio Lancashire Breakfast Show with Tony Livesey (which you can listen to on the article mentioned above). They have linked to the article on the BBC Sport's Snooker index...which might not be ideal but at least it's there. BBC Lancashire might be difficult to find but it is Peach's patch. He was congratulated on Monday night on BBC North West Tonight by Tony and there were plans to have him on last night. Not sure what happened with that - but there are other features in the pipeline with the BBC. I'll keep you posted! Dazzler will no doubt fill you in on all the other stuff he has been doing...but I'm sure we'll be seeing loads more in the media of Lex Luthor!!! I know it is disappointing but snooker's coverage in the nationals is poor, too. [ This message was edited by: spinderella on 2007-11-14 14:11 ]
