Registration for this event is now closed, the 8 Midlands teams that will be competing are:

Rileys - Solihull
Rileys - Coventry Hertford Place
Rileys - Leicester
Rileys - Moseley
Rileys - Rugby
Rileys - Nottingham
Rileys - Birmingham
Rack and Roll - Leicester

After much deliberation we have revised the format of this event to make it even more exciting and better value for money.

It will still be a straight knockout with 8 teams of 6, but now each round will be best of 11 instead of 9.

To ensure that every player gets good value, each match will now be a race 4 instead of 3.

The line-up of matches for each round will now be as follows:

6 Singles Matches (each team member playing once)
3 Scotch Doubles Matches (each team member playing once)
2 Scotch Trebles Matches if required (again every team member playing once)

This should be a great event and I for one am really looking forward to it.

Perhaps Big Dave could come down and cover the event? ;-)

Dave??

It looks like Team Nottingham may have to pull out. We may be able to get a 'B' team together from Solihull but if there are any other clubs in the Midlands who can get 6 players together for this please get back to ASAP.

There is only just over a week left until this great event :-)

Andy

I can confirm that today i have picked up the winner and runner up trophies, and the shield. I will need to take the shield back next week to be engraved with this years winner on it as i thought it was a bit too bigheaded to engrave "coventry" into it before the day itself, i'll wait until after the event.

Good shout, could we re-discuss this in 7 years time though as the shield has enough spaces on it for 7 years worth of champions names to be engraved.

The main description on the shield has already been engrvaed as midlands mosconi cup!

:-P

I admire your confidence mr cueman, your only hope is that the coventry team are handicapped due to the alcohol consumption at mrs skybluejims 40th birthday party saturday night!

forgot to mention we have a change to our team line up, will confirm to you tonight that we also have a new captain.
