We are holding a team event at Rileys, Solihull on 27th May.

The inaugural "2007 Midlands Mosconi Cup Derby"

Each team will consist of 6 players representing a Rileys club in the Midlands area. The event will be limited to 8 teams.

If you are interested in entering a team either call or text Andy on 07767 660 885 or Jamie on 07951 969 108. Alternatively send me a pm

Venue: Rileys, Solihull

Date: 27th May 2007, draw will be made at 11:45 – play starts at 12pm sharp

Winner: £300 + trophy
Runner-up: £180 + trophy

Teams: 8 teams of 6 players (1 team from each of 8 clubs in the West/East Midlands)

Entry Fee: £60 per team. £30 deposit required by 27th April, balance on the day.

Format: Straight knockout, each round race to 5 matches, consisting of 3 singles followed by 3 scotch doubles and then another 3 singles (if required) – All matches will be race to 3 racks

I think this will be a great event with lots of pressure. If succesfull this will become an annual event. Be a part of it!!!

Andy Warden & Jamie White

Personally, i think this is a great idea and it's about time a mini event like this was organised...

My only gripe is that as this is limited to the midlands i think some/most Rileys (like mine -Rugeley/Cannock) would struggle to get a full team of dedicated pool players.

By that i mean people who play on the various tours or people who actually own a real pool cue for a start although i do know there are some people who can play well with normal snooker cues, but not many. I would like to put a team in but obviously not of local Rileys regulars out for a laugh who don't take American Pool disciplines seriously.

Perhaps with the exception of Birmingam and Solihull i'll bet it would be hard for other Mids clubs to put a strong team of local lads together to contend?!?

What do you think?

I see what you mean about finding a team of 6 players could be difficult, but it is the same for all clubs and i'dbe suprised if there was a club in the country that couldnt find 6 cuesports players who could play a little bit.

It started as an idea for a mosconi cup event between rileys solihull and rileys coventry, but we decided to extend it open.

Already we have interest from rileys rugby, and the other rileys in coventry so hopefully we are already looking at 4 pretty much confirmed teams.

Can probably get a team together from Moseley Riley's. Can the_mAN be an honorary Moselian seeing as I know him and he has played there?

Wouldn't like to see the lad left out!

Cheers,

Jonathan.

Ok MR Statham, i guess i could jump ship and play for Moseley as it doesn't look like i could get a good team together from my local area.

Count me in Mr Transporter....

Good play at the Euro Champs by the way for your 1st time!

If I were Mr Statham I wouldn't be talking to the likes of you that's for sure.

If that's OK with the organisers then good to have you on board. I think I can get another 4 from Moseley to have a go at this.

Yes we would, already have interest from 3 other clubs in the country (North West, Basildon & Stretford)

My feeling is that we will get the 8 teams from the midlands but even then I am thinking about running another team event in a few months that will be open to the UK

well keep us up to date.........i think you should have a cut off date for the 'midlands' teams to enter so if you don't fill all the places then at least some of the 'non-midlands' teams can have time to get a team together............anyway 'St Albans' is more midlands than a Basildon or a Manchester :-)
