Hello Dazza, Yes Ralf won it last year. I'm hoping Tom Storm'll win it but otherwise Tony Drago would be nice or Oliver Ortmann as I'd love to see him back in the Mosconi team and that would be a big step towards a recall.
Thanks, Chris.

Hello, Hmm well I certasinly wouldn't write Tom off that easily. Still the 3rd most successful player Europe has ever produced when you combine EuroTour victories and EPC medals. A total class act too. Anyway I didn't say he would win, just that I hoped he would. He certainly deserves it.

Hi, I agree with you there but he doesn't play enough events because his sponsorship deal ended and so he can't afford to play on the Euro Tour anymore. I got that from Myra in case people don't believe me. Glad you agree with me that he is/was a great player anyway. I just love his style.
Can I ask why you're not there going for another medal this year yourself?
Thanks, Chris.

Well Chrstc its quite simple mate...... I got the invite as did Mark Gray, but the bppa offered ZERO subsidy, and with an event that holds NO prize money i found it hard see it justifiable for me to go.....even though i have a Sponsor/Manager is still have my morals and i didnt want them to fork around a £1,000 for this event with no chance of any return! You might say "what if you won the 9ball, you would have got a Mosconi spot"......not true.....theres nothing in writing that states this......The only guaranteed spot for the mosconi cup is the No1 ranked player on the Eurotour! So if matchroom feel that the winner of the EPC 9ball isnt right for the job they dont have to pick him. I can understand players wanting to play in this event to gain experience etc as its a superbly ran event on great equipment (all be it buckets)......but its not for me with Zero subsidy......hence the week England squad (no disrispect to any of the players that have gone, but i truely feel that England could win the lot with the top side fielded out) And before anyone jumps on my back, i did say COULD. -----------------

Hi Dazzler, Thanks for the explanation. Can see why you wouldn't go under those conditions. I always wondered how the system worked in a tournament with no prize money so thanks for explaining it all. I know there is no guarantee about the Euro 9 ball champion getting a spot too- I just said they nomally seem to get picked but perhaps that's because the champ is normally Oliver or Ralf!!!
Thanks again, Chris.
Thanks

i think your absoloutley right dazzler!
good luck and best wishes to all the british lads attending this year - do us proud. however, I would like to 2nd Daz comments around the Squad that could have been... With many UK players now regulars on the Euro Tour we could have had a very, very strong team.
not saying we would have won everything - but darn they woulda been in with a shout.
My Top 4 (in no particular order) woulda been Daryl Peach Imran Majid Mark Gray Kevin uzzell
but thats not discounting any of the players that are there already, plenty of names missing of this list that could beat anyone too - Boyzi, Absynth Andy Swerthington, Appleton, Raj,(+ current GBR euro squad) matt Lawrenson is also a great up and coming talent. sorry to all the stars missed off this list,
i think the point is that we have a great wealth of talent now in the UK. With Shir on board the BPPPA should get stronger.
this should create some discussion !
Over and out

Bob on Shotgun! You forgot to mention yourself kidda! Like you say, with Shir on board now i think we might start to see some improvements.....she has experience (hahahaha sorry Shirley) Regarding the European championships........Lots of the other nations have total subsidy for their players for this event......even places such as Ukrain, Poland etc have full subsidy and that includes full kit including jackets and everything! We need to look at these nations and see why we are not providing our top players with this sort of action! Lets hope it changes. -----------------

Wow, Ralf Souquet vs Thorsten Hohmann in winner's round 1!! 1 of the favourites is going over to the loser's side very early in this one, then!
Tony Drago has won 9-2 and Vincent Facquet won 9-0!!

I watched Drago this morning, all over in double quick time. lost the first 2 then won the next 9. If he keeps playing like that he's in with a chance. But he has the 8 ball semi tonight as well. Mat Lawrence is on at 5 here can't miss that one I'll have to get myself down to watch. Nothing to do for me until the Wheelie 9 ball starts tomorrow

Imran's having a bit of a tournament to forget so far isn't he. 2 and out in the 8 ball and has lost his first match in the 9 ball. Hope his form/luck improves soon.

Great result for Jonathan Mathers beating Stephan Cohen 9-7. Jonathan was 5-2 up but when it went to 7-7 I assumed Cohen's experience would get him through.
