I am considering running a qualifier for the Grand Masters 8 ball in Southport. The qualifier would be played on a Sunday. The entry fee would be £55 and would be limited to 10 entries where one guaranteed place would be given. 10 X £55 = £550 £500 entry into Grand Masters £50 Table Costs Two Groups of 5 with group matches being race to 4 alternate break. You would be guaranteed four matches and the top two would qualify from each group. Semi's race to 7 and final race to 8. The qualifier would be played on two Brunswick style match tables with brand new Simonis 760 cloth, new Aramith Pro balls, IPT style pockets and use of Sardo Tight Rack. Any thoughts, observations and ideas regarding the format would be appreciated, thanks. [ This message was edited by: cusack_147 on 2006-12-22 13:16 ]

Sounds like a good idea but I guess we would need the confirmed date of the event first.

I'm interested as long as it doesn't clash with the Norway Tournament in January (see Pro9 Calendar).

Ok, Just to let you all know now I am back from Spain and that the Grand Masters Event date should be announced in the next 48 hours, It will be a 32 Player event with a £500 entry and £6000 first Prize, we have 22 entries already and that is without the top euro players, although in Spain I had a chat with a number of them including Neils Feijan, Ivica Putnik, Thorsten Hohmann and Marcus Chamat amonst others and all are keen to play, so we expect this event to fill up very quickly, Norway are doing a qualifier during there event in January and Cusack147 said they are going to hold two at Les Dodds club in Southport (will need that confirming), anyone else who is planning a qualifier please can you contact me via PM or email as we have only 10 places left in this event and thats not including any qualifiers which we will have to limit to 4 due to top european players who are looking to enter.
Cheers Mark M

The entry fee would be £55 and each qualifier would be restricted to the first 10 paid entries (1 qualifier from each). The format is on my first post in this thread.

Just a reminder to all players playing in the Grand Masters 8-ball event that any player who has already entered there name in the main draw may not play in a qualifier unless they remove there name from the main draw, if any player is found to have played in a qualifier then there name will be removed from the main draw.
