I'm just checking now to see if the Al Akass TV cameras are there yet? Al Kass are streaming on channels 1, 3, and 4 - but last year it was on Alkass 2, and that one is still not broadcasting yet... The link is in the article above just in case - and I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.

OK... Unfortunately, the word is that the TV cameras are NOT there yet... We WILL find out when they are coming for you though.

In the meantime - there's a link to the brackets and the live-scoring in the article on Pro9's front page.

Who has the promotion rights for the World Pool Championship in 2014 as I have heard that the QBSF (Qatar Billiards & Snooker Federation) had only bought the rights up until this tournament which means it would be up for grabs in 2014.

Does this mean we could see matchroom sport come back as promoters of the tournament after a long hiatus & have TV coverage back in the UK instead of having to watch internet streams? I for one sincerely hope so.

Pro9 has a regular fresh news articles from Doha arriving all the time, starting with the best Appleton interview in years...

www.pro9.co.uk/html/article.php?sid=2323

Appleton first played in the finals of the world 9 ball in 2001 or 2002 in Cardiff - coming through the qualifying school route as described. As did Chris Melling the same year. I remember seeing both of them there that year.

I think Phil Harrison (another English 8 ball player of the time) also got through.

Well, there's good news and there's bad news!

The good news is that the latest report on Pro9's front page has the results from the Last 64 Stage and we can see the match ups for the Last 32 - and nearly half the field is still made up of Europeans.

Woohoo!

The bad news is that they're only going to stream the Final and Semi-Finals...

...Of the 2013 World Pool Championship.
