dont agree with changing format think its stupid to have groups more match fixing!! its not for me am afraid!!

why change something thats not broken!!

imo the top 16 from last year should get the byes!

and play best of 3 sets races to 9 or 10!

ill defo not be paying £500 to enter with the chance of been cheated out of the tournament thats my concern!

and am sure it will be many other players concern!

if there a chance of qualifying thru cheap entry then ill have a go! otherwise ill not be paying £500!

i like mark and hope it works but my opinion it will not!

good luck anyway! hope am wrong

You can't be cheated out of the tournament if there is only 3 in a group.

Always make sure that the losers meet first.

Ex:

Player A - Player B play, Player C wait. Player B win.

Then Player A must meet Player C. Player A has already lost, so he MUST win to proceed.

If Player B loses the first match, he must face Player C. Then Player B MUST win to proceed.

Can't this still be fixed on rack difference as Player A and C must then play and there would still be a scenario where C beats A and both go through due to rack difference / racks won. Collusion is a real problem in group formats.

I liked the sound of this as its right on my birthday....(nice birthday pressy, lol)

But now ive seen the format, i have to agree with Dyno....its not the way forward because of match throwing/fixing.
Why do ya think Matchroom have changed the WPC from groups to double KO??

In my opinion, if the match races are long enough you dont need to go for all this "Group rubbish"

just my thoughts, (and i bet a lot of other top sticks will feel the same)

Dazzler......13 stone dead.......never flinches!

Hi All, First time I looged in or been on here since May, just to clear this post up, and to clear the tournament format up, the format was originally planned as groups but the format which was finally decided on was 48 players double elimination down to last 16 with last years last 16 being seeded through round 1 these games on both sides will be races to 12 up until the last 16 which will be best of 3 sets races to 10, I have know updated the cuesportuk website which was the cause of the confusion,
Dynamite it is not £500 entry it is £350 (or 500 in euros)
This event will also have a live web broadcast.

Was stated in last years rules along with the winner receives free entry in next grand masters, and has it is the same for the next event the winner will receive free entry into 2009 Grand Masters and the last 16 in the next event will be seeded in 2009, bet you would not have said anything if you had made the last 16, the eurotour does the same with the top ranked being seeded through round 1.
The answer is simple you either enter or you don't.

whats 2009 got to do we the price of peas....

if 2007 if you find me were it was stated in 06 tat there will be 48 runners in 07 and the last 16 will be seeded from 06 straight through il bow down and say fair play........
i think your intention wqas to have it like ricardo posted and now your trying to make out diferent cos people complained......

machine........not for me being blagged....and we wonder why game is a pile s....e.......lol....

so lets get it right....you have to attract at least another 32 maybe more if some from last years 16 decline and tehy have to shell out £350 plus exs so £500 before hittibg a ball plus extras oh and into the bargain got to play 2/3 matches more and use up extra energy getting through in was his already a very demanding tournament with high class concentration needed........

so in a nutshell il give last years last 16.....5hrs head start and 2 matches......good stuff.......

machine......thinking what a sollution"either enter or dont bother" ...........lol
