"Format Change
After successful implementation of the UK Open format for the previous events in 2017 and 2016 and the under-represented Pro Cup events, we are looking to adopt the UK Open format going forward in all GB 9 Ball Tour events. This would mean a double elimination format (down to 32/16 tbc), with all players not making the single knockout stages entered into one of two Challenge Tier events. The Pro Cup will be removed and pro entry fees will reduce in line with other members."As the previous topic was blocked from posting replies, I thought id start a new topic. What are peoples opinion on the proposed format changes? Anyone willing to share ideas? [ This message was edited by: beeston89 on 2017-11-03 12:11 ]

Anyone willing to share ideas? The payment should be tierd on previous rankings, if someone is a new member and an unknown player they should be put on to the lower tier rate. for the likes of players for the uk open who are coming from overseas should pay the premium rate as they're coming for a reason if travelling from overseas especially if there a well known individual, the idea of getting rid of the pro event is a great idea as feeding too much money into an event where they are scraping for 8 players, for gb9 to move forward there needs more money to be spread throughout so people who win and people who make the later stages arent breaking even for example quarter finalist. the way of the uk open still guarantees everyone three matches this intern could attract more players overseas with increased prize fund, the gb9 is never going to gain the interest like the 8 ball tour this is just the nature of it and as long as things move forward each year it will become more attractive for people from other disciplines and other nations, [ This message was edited by: Sanderson1994 on 2017-11-03 14:44 ]

my personal opinion is that the key lies in the new prize breakdown structure. when paying £475 to enter possibly ONLY 5 single competitions as opposed to the current 9/10 competitions you probably need L16 to be min £200 to really stand a chance of taking off. Getting rid of the Pro event has to be done.
I dont like tiered entry fees.
I dont think you can prevent last 32 losers from playing in the challenge. This would almost disinsentivise a lot of players that could make the last 32 but are unlikely to go much further.
They could get a decent draw to the last 32 then get beat, receive small amount of prize money but lose the chance of winning £400 or so (or more importantly a good run) in the challenge.
The other option would be to have a list of players not allowed to play in the challenge regardless of results. Anyone not on the list could only be added if they got so far int he main event that it became an issue for scheduling.

Last 16 payout needs to be close to CH1 semi final payout
Give Dave the big room back (where tables 2, 3 & 4 are now)
Put stream table in main room with seating around it. The other 10 tables can go in 2 rows of 5 either side.
Have 3 tables back in the smaller suite (like it was when Phil Burford bt Suquet)
