Power Snooker is LIVE on ITV4 right now, until 5pm this evening... If you haven't got access to ITV4 you can watch it online at "TV Catchup" which, despite it's name, only shows Live TV broadcasts.

www.tvcatchup.com/guide.html

Bit of a let down after those beautiful girls, but Ronnie seems to be ripping it up!

Do you think it will catch on?

IMO its exciting and nice to hear the crowd getting more involved. a few things i think could be changed no miss mayb ball in hand, mayb take points away for safety overwise when a player gets ahead it could quickly lose the fast pace as plays may decide to turn down pots and play safety instead if the power ball is not on the table. what does every1 else think? finally the adverts are doing my head in!

I couldn't see the Power Snooker girls anywhere? ;)

Do us "dyed in the wool" snooker fans/aficionados really need the beautiful and traditional game of snooker jazzed up with all the razzmatazz to appreciate it?

I'm happy with normal snooker myself - I love watching it and even the long matches with lots of safety battles still enthrall me.

Anyone else feel like this?

I'm actually enjoying it! Looks like the players are feeling it a little too because of the crowd. Is the winner of today's event getting 35k? Could get interesting to see how the players react to the crowd...

I've not watched it all so I don't know if this has been happening all day but...Clive Everton just called it a 'rack' rather than 'frame'!

The ball-in-hand rule would be a good addition I think. It's possibly too quick - maybe a longer shot slock required as too many careless shots being played. How did Jimmy gey on? I've had to surrender the tv to my daughter.

"The three Power Girls are 21 year old Peta Todd from Essex and 22 year old Hollie Peers from Manchester, both beautiful brunettes, along with glamorous blonde Danni Wells aged 19 from Coventry."

The fans in this power snooker must have been paid by Hearn to turn up cos there all darts fans shouting random rubbish, i think its quite embarasing this tourney and yes its being played at the o2 but its the toilets of the o2!
This aint the way the game is supposed to be played guys!

Although power snooker is great I think they should just tweak snooker a bit by scrapping the silence and introducing a shot clock. That would be good enough to make it faster and more exciting.

Some snooker matches are so boring, remember the Plebdon Dott world final!

Or just stick pool on TV!

Your theory would work other than that ironically, Power Snooker is not the brainchild of Barry Hearn!

the pure snooker game does not need changing to speed it up, if people are too impatient to watch, don't watch it. i love the fact a frame and match takes hours its how you get into it properly!

I agree with you mate it does very much look like something Bazza couldve conjured up!

The game in theory is a good one, but all the 'glamour' associated with it is naff. I think the fact the players could express themselves freely was a good thing. Always hated that snooker players had to void themselves of any emotion, the game is too squeaky clean.

Will be interesting to see what general public think of this though.

Yes very true i don't know what they would think to be honest.
What do the loosers of the power snooker get a cheque book and pen?
To get in line with the atmosphere they should be wearing a ripped t shirt and jeans with bandanas!

I agree that the crowd were a little embarrassing at times but I think it'll take time for them to create their own identity.

I'm a huge fan of traditional snooker and would hate this to intrude on that in ANY negative way...but I can't see how it could. It was also a probable record for the amount of times 9 Ball Pool has been mentioned on terrestrial telly which can only be good for us.

On a different note, would anyone agree that the 'Power Ball' was reacting slightly strange? I know the design on the ball is going to play a slight trick on the eye but it just reminded me of the times I've played snooker with a spotted white...it looked lighter in weight. It was also noticeably duller under the lights.

Majestic, people aren't watching snooker, that's the problem. Hard core fans will like the long matches but when one of the highlights of a sport is the ref killing a fly, it's not great is it?

Yea thats true machine gun but with the prize money going up for the winner of majors all the time eg WC at practically 300k is the game in trouble? they have also added extra tourneys to the tour this year, i understand why they need new fresh ideas but to go from one extreme to the other i think is not necessary. last night tourney was hideous and if snooker fans aint gonna like that then as far as im concerned its not even the same sport.
