During one of his matches about a week ago 2 balls became locked in the jaws and any legal shot looked impossible. He will give the full story i'm sure. The area i'm looking at is just what happens and the answer has been found. Please see pics The bca/wpa world standardised rules state 3.33 JAWED BALLS If two or more balls are locked between the jaws or sides of the pocket, with one or more suspended in air, the referee shall inspect the balls in position and follow this procedure: he shall visually (or physically if he desires) project each ball directly downward from its locked position; any ball that in his judgement would fall in the pocket if so moved directly downward is a pocketed ball, while any ball that would come to rest on the bed of the table is not pocketed. The balls are then placed according to the referee’s assessment, and play continues according to specific game rules as if no locking or jawing of balls had occurred. Has anyone else seen this? ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-02-27 02:37 ]

I think this one belongs to Daryl - it happened at his EPT event in Liverpool!

As a referee, I hope that never happens to me.

This happened to me 3 times in 3 consecutive sessions about 4 months ago. The 2nd time, i was actually trying to describe what happened to my mate, who I was playing, when it happened again ... hasn't happend since.
One of the times, one of the balls was the white, and I had to play it?????

Also, did that 4-Ball get left out in the sun? It looks terribly bleached but I think I've seen it before somewhere!

Sadly, yes it is generally the norm with Rileys clubs, and a great gripe of mine once you have played on tables outside the UK. Amsterdam billiards in New York is the benchmark for me, when you have played there then you will be disappointed with everything here. In my experience, Victoria and St Albans are about the best surfaces you will find on these shores. I hear Mickey Flynns in Cambridge is ok but not ventured there yet so far.. If anyone else can recommend some good, well kept and run pool halls in this country then I'd love to hear about them. On 2007-02-27 10:30 , Bangkokpoolman Wrote:!!! Sorry about the photos the balls were perfect colour its just i think reflection from having my phone flash so close to the balls. The colour looks better in the top down pic. The pics are from a Widlo vs David match in leeds, the playing surface is actually pretty good and the balls are lively. ----------------- [ This message was edited by: PC on 2007-02-27 12:14 ]

i was watching jason shaw in liverpool when this happened to his opponent while playing a combo, not knowing what to do a ref was called (daryl) and wrongly i.m.o. replaced the balls as near as possible to where they started and the shot replayed luckely a ball was made this time
