Dear all, The BPPPA web site has now been fully updated with details of the membership pack for 06/07 plus the current tour calendars for the main tour, wheelchair tour, youth tour and EBPF Euro Tour schedule. The current main tour rankings after the Nottingham Open are also now available to view in PDF and Excel format. All recent event press releases will be added to the site just as soon as I get chance. I also plan to add a new section, player profiles. This will include interviews, bio's and pics of our top 16 ranked players. Kind regards. Surgeon Widlo. http://www.bpppa.org[ This message was edited by: TheSurgeon on 2006-11-28 16:14 ]

So - anyone fancy the UK tour of Stretford mall????? Oh - apart from the UK Open...which is held in...you guessed it...The City of Manchester Stadium!!!! Don't suppose anyone on here runs a hotel adjacent do they??? Whilst I'm (sort of) aware of the reasons why this is being done (Ted's explanation @ Notts) I do think the UK 9 ball players deserve more. What a shame as I'm one of the many who believe that with the level of cue talent in this country, we should be attracting investors capable of moving the domestic game to the next level. I'm not having a go at anyone here, I know that the administrators in this country are working hard and that Riley's withdrawl has hurt the tour badly. I just think that this might be an opportunity to turn this situation into something that might actually benefit the UK players longer term. Let's get the game out of the smokey clubs and into venues that we can all enjoy, venues that will showcase the game and produce champions for years to come. We have the talent in this country, players with geniune ability and charisma to boot - we just need a vehicle with which to market them (and our game) correctly. Jason

Would be nice but needs serious sponsorship/investment. Unfortunately as long as the major player in pool hall management keeps promoting American pool as a "game" to play whilst getting hammered I do believe we will struggle at best. Unfortunately they hold the American disciplines in complete contempt and consider them as only a vehicle to sell alcohol. I've nearly lost patience with my local one and practise more frequently at a privately run club where the tables are always maintained to a high standard. They have a night club upstairs and a function room downstairs. The place runs at a massive profit and everyone is happy.

Here's an explanation from the bpppa website: 2006-07 BPPPA Main Tour Tournament Payouts 64 Player Field (Paying down to last 16) Place % £ 1st 33.33 746 2nd 16.67 374 3rd/4th 16.67 (shared by 2) 187 (x2) 5th - 8th 16.67 (shared by 4) 93.50 (x4) 9th - 16th 16.67 (shared by 8 ) 46.75 (x8 ) *** 86 runners required to make 1st prize £1000 *** 96 Player Field (Paying down to last 24) Place % £ 1st 30.76 1033.53 2nd 15.38 516.77 3rd/4th 15.38 (shared by 2) 258.38 (x2) 5th - 8th 15.38 (shared by 4) 129.19 (x4) 9th - 16th 15.38 (shared by 8 ) 64.60 (x8 ) 17th - 24th 7.72 (shared by 8 ) 32.42 (x8 ) 128 Player Field (Paying down to last 32) Place % £ 1st 28.575 1279.48 2nd 14.285 639.74 3rd/4th 14.285 (shared by 2) 319.87 (x2) 5th - 8th 14.285 (shared by 4) 159.93 (x4) 9th - 16th 14.285 (shared by 8 ) 79.96 (x8 ) 17th - 32nd 14.285 (shared by 16) 39.98 (x16) The BPPPA still reserves the right to deduct 5% from the total prize fund towards administration costs. For a matter of convenience at tournaments, the Tournament Director and / or Organisers reserves the right to round up or round down any prize monies to the nearest one pound or five pounds, whichever is more convenient. Draw your own conclusions. [ This message was edited by: shir on 2006-11-30 12:56 ]

BTW, I dont see what the fuss is. No matter what the entry fee is, everyone pays it, so obviously the best man wins on the day.
We have the same situation in Scotland where the top players win most of the time, but that doesnt stop average players like me having a go.
At the end of the day we all pay our money and take our chance.

At Nottingham the increased entry fee meant that every player getting through to the second day got some prize money (last 32 got £30 I think). In my eyes this is definitely an improvement as it makes the prize structure less top heavy and gives more reward for simply battling through day 1. I think Cusack has quoted the old prize money structure by the way as this was not reflected at Nottingham. RT

Thought it wouldn't be long before someone spotted that!!! Quite right though, the payout structure is based on last years £35 entry fee, not the new £45 entries.
Nigel is updating this as we speak, it will be posted on the site just as soon as its ready.

its u and daryl that win them all pal not me.i just think if u have a good tournament u deserve a decent pay day.last 32 is not a good tournament,u sell a sport through the best players not the bad ones.when i was young kid i wanted to play against the best to try beat them,so i could improve.money wasnt an issue, there are too many bad players dictating the bpppa, wot about the good ones

i maybe wrong but most of the players arent full time proffessional pool players on the tours who combine pool with there jobs, so by getting thru the first day and then getting some kind of pay out its fair enough i think
