Good set of results from day one. Glad Jason Klatt & John Morra - two of Canadas young guns got through to the last 32. Raj is playing well (as usual). I was reading the article of day one written on the Pro9 website and it says that 7 winners were invited. Anyone know where Alex Pagulayan is then?

Playing poker most probably.

Strickland was funny as the devils playground. He was moaning to anyone who would listen (including us...but we were laughing our heads off) that he had two shots all the game...played too good shots to hook Feijen...and that Feijen got out of both using "that jump stick". Why does he have a pathological dislike of jumping??!! Does he even own a jump cue?

On a more sinister note he also accused Feijen of racking the balls "off the spot".

What he failed to acknowledge is that Feijen played absolutely awesome. Me and my brother got there late (previous night's excess!) and couldn't believe Feijen had lost his first game the way he played.

Anyway, really looking forward to today - come on Daz!!!!

Terrible draw for the brits, with 4 of the 5 players (6 if you include Raj) all in the same half of the draw. The bottom half of the draw could be mistaken for a GB9 event as Appleton could face Peach in the quarter finals, with the winner potentially playing Daryl or Karl in the Semi-finals (Daryl and Karl were drawn against each other in the last 32).

Jayson has a tough opener agains Dennis Hatch but he managed a superb win over Lee Van Corteza yesterday so his confidence will be high.

Raj on the other hand, who would meet Shaw in the semi-finals plays US veteran Ernesto Dominguez, and would face either Marcus Chamat or Dennis Orcollo should he win.

re:bucko1973

i think earl has legitimate point about jump sticks etc......he has always made sense when he speaks about the pitfalls in the game

its incredibly frustrating to show knowledge and hook someone and then all ur opponent does his use his jump stick to escape instead of showing the same amount if not more knowledge to make a good hit on the ball on

----------------------------------------------------

i think its winner break as well which i dont think suits this event, with the best equipment being played on ur gona see alot of one-sided matches esp as its only race to 9

it should be alternate breaks so both players then have to try n outplay their opponent in such a short race

Agree with Indy' - jump sticks are nasty pieces of work, much more skill involved in kicking out IMO....also with the high standard of players, equipment, tables etc I think it should be alternate break....otherwise if you lose the lag that could be your only shot,so wheres the competitvness in that - the game then becomes an "exhibition" not a "contest" - a "one man game" which isn't good for Pool (thinking of T.V and venue audience's ) who would want to pay money to watch their favourite player sit in his chair for an hour - no-one ! ....

Some great match ups in last 32.

Chamat vs Orcullo will be a rematch of their hill-hill group match. Boyes & Peach are both in fine form at the moment so that should be a cracker too.

Mark, who never got to play a singles match at the Mosconi in 2008 can make up for it by kicking Rodney's a**.

And who would bet against a flying Jayson Shaw to cause some upsets from here on in? Would love to see him silence 'Big Mouth'.

Then down the bottom you have the european powerhouse of Appleton, Ortmann, Hohmann & Feijen.

Should be fascinating.

Is anyone finding the live scoring is jumping all over the place??

Keeps going backwards to previous scores.

Is there anywhere else to stream the live scoring from?
