The Predator Group has made a strong change to increase your profitability by changing the Minimum Selling Price from 20% off to 15% off of the Suggested Retail. The 15% MSP policy as well as new Suggested Retail Prices are in effect as of July 1st 2008. All web sites, catalogs and printed materials need to reflect the price increase as well as the 15% discount and need to be changed as of the July 1st date as well. We do apologize for the short notice.

...this is my take on the pricing and discount situation in the USA:


,,,what this amounts to is Predator (probably) will stop shipping to any dealer who advertises Predator products at less than 15% off their MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price). This is an effort in marketing to increase the "value" of the product. This does not mean that an individual cannot buy stuff for more than 15% off; it just can't be advertised for more than 15% off in any media.

Only allowing a short discount to be advertised is a proven effort to upgrade/increase your product's perceived "value". Others in the custom cue arena (no one named...lol) lower the prices (and perceived value) of their cues to try to sell more to the masses. One that most of the readers will readily recognize sells on AZ and another sells on Ebay.

I'm no lawyer but surely they are breaking European Union laws either on Price Fixing or anti-competetive behaviour or both. These days I'd be very surprised if this is legal. Does anyone know?

I dont think they are breaking any laws. But the way they are going I think its not good for their business.
There are still plenty of ways to go around this.

So by saying you are not allowed to set a price below a certain level that is not breaking the law?

Also it sounds like they won't even allow free trade around Europe i.e. one European trader selling to a person in a different European country. So that's perfectly legal is it?

I think they are walking in dangerous zone. But they sure did their research about it? I dont like it either and I think no one does.
They are American company with really strange dealers politics and I dont think the EU laws can affect this.
I think they will change the politics because the sells will drop or somebody else will take their place. IMO

This is very true. New and existing players requiring a New Predator cue this year in the UK - 10-15 tops

Players requiring a predator shaft - 15-20 if lucky.

Total sales approx = $10 - $15,000 ???
