Apart from the usual rotation based games of 9 ball and 10 ball tournaments that are the most popular amongst the players. What other American Pool disciplines would you be interested in playing for competitive Events? And what would the Pros and Cons be for looking to hold these events? Just interested to get a feel of what games everyone would fancy playing as an alternative. 14:1 Straight Pool 8 Ball Rotation One Pocket Speed Pool Bank Pool ----------------- You know that!! I'd never heard of "Cut Throat" before but it sounds fun!
My opinions on the above mentioned games...
14.1 Straight Pool
A good practice tool but I'm yet to ever see another player in the flesh playing it!
8 Ball
This game is supposed to be really good if you learn and play the official rules but there doesn't seem to be any interest for it.
Rotation
A great game that I'd love to see an event for!
One Pocket
An art in itself but the consensus seems to be that it's a pretty slow game so I doubt it could take off.
Speed Pool
A fun diversion and maybe a novelty event for this could take place alongside a more traditional event for 9/10 Ball.
Bank Pool
Also a pretty cool game that would go well alongside a more traditional 9/10 Ball competition.

I've seen Six Ball and heard of Three Ball too... But none of them are as good as Nine Ball, and I'm not sure I'd like to play a serious tournament with a rotation game with less than 9 balls in the pack. We already had a 14.1 tournament at Mickey Flynns, but it was clear it was going to over run on time, so after the first round it reverted, by popular player consensus, to 9 Ball. Games I'd like to play in a tournament = Bank Pool and perhaps Cowboy. Some lesser know pool disciplines here... http://www.pro9.co.uk/html/Rules20Assorted.php[ This message was edited by: BigDave on 2013-06-21 15:49 ]

7-ball using 3 pockets like Bonus Ball is a good game. Theres an old game on youtube it might be Irving Crane v Luther Lassiter or something like that.
I tried to run a mixed discipline event but nobody showed any interest sadly...
