Hi Guys, After a bit of advice please. I have a SAM K Steel table that i was looking to upgrade by changing the rails, cushions etc to the K2 version with the tighter pockets similar to that used on GB9. After being quoted 2.5k for the upgrade this idea has gone out the window so i was looking at what other options were available. I've noticed the pro shop advertises pro pocket shims, has any one used these or is there any other product out there you've used that you can recommend? Cheers. Hi Dean, There are a variety of more affordable way to upgrade a table... PRO POCKETS - Buy ProPockets here! Not really very suitable in your case, ProPockets are very portable, they can be added and removed regularly, and therefore they are more suitable for people who don't want the pockets permanently restricted, or for people who want to practice on tight pockets at a variety of locations. SHIMS - Buy Thick Pocket Shims here!If you have your own table, you might want to consider a more permanent solution, which is to add thicker pocket shims. This can be quite affordable if added when you next need to replace the cloth. CUSHION RUBBER - Buy Artemis K66 Cushion Rubber here!If you are unhappy with the performance of the cushions, they can be replaced/upgraded to Artemis K66 Cushion Rubber - it's very expensive for rubber, but we've recommended this to many people and they have all reported that they were very satisfied/thrilled with the improved performance. I hope this helps - let me know if there's anything else I can help you with ok? All the best, BDK. ----------------- Authorised Pro9 forum advertiser/sponsor

Holy Fcek Deano, who the the devils playground quoted you 2.5K for the upgrade?... they should be locked up in a padded cell for a while at that price.
To upgrade your table to Pro Tournament std shouldn't cost anymore than about £500 tops, inc labour.
- Artemis K55 cushion rubbers are the best on the market right now.
- Simonis 860HR is the more hardwearing and supposedly faster version of Simonis 860, (Tournament Blue is the best colour).
- The best material for pocket shims is Leather, you should be able to have find a leatherworks supplies store that can offer a 12"x12" piece about 3mm/5mm thick.
The reason I say leather pocket facings is because you can narrow the pockets, but the pocket will still be receptive enough to take balls down the rail at speed, but without being too generous.

Hay UJ,
You have no idea how badly pool players get ripped off here in the UK because of greedy Gov't taxes, particularly the Fuel tax which drives the cost of everything else through the roof.

Hi guys, When i said 2.5k, it was actually dearer at £2535 if i was being exact lol. That was from 147sport, who in August fitted the table i currently have but SAM in Coventry are about the same. A new K2 is close on 5k & i've been quoted almost 3k plus VAT for a refurb! Willie, If you know anyone who can do it for that sort of price then i'd be well happy. If i just changed the table to another make that would have tighter pockets then can anyone recommend what to go for? Which tables are the best in everyone's opinion? Best value for quality has got to be the new Dynamic III - it's the very latest model, and it's used on the EuroTour as the main TV table, so you know it's superb.
I'd have to check the price for you, but if you're serious, I reckon I could have a brand new one delivered and fitted with the cloth of your choice for less than £2535 - seriously!

Dean, I remember SAM Leisure offering upgrades from K Steel to the Magna Pro top that they use for GB9 with new rails and cloth etc for £1600 thats much cheaper than the prices you've been quoted which are disgusting.
For value, and ability to get table fairly quickly a Dynamic II is your best bet. One of my mates bought one recently and it is awesome.
I also have a friend who does top quality table fitting for £50 plus fuel expenses.
Look on ebay they have lot's of tables pop up which are good. Even if you bought a used K Steel or even a BCE for £600-£1000 and then bought top notch rails/cloth/shims whatever else yourself you would have an awesome table.

Yes I agree what Big Dave is saying, I would highly recommend the Dynamic tables, My sponsors Dynamic are supplying me the Dynamic III table which is currently being shipped over from Germany, If you are seriously thinking about purchasing a table then you would be more than welcome to come and try out the new Dynamic III for yourself once it is set up at the end of January before commiting to purchasing one, If you need any more information then drop me a P'm, Damian

It's not the make/model of table that makes the difference, it's the quality of the components and how accurately they are fitted onto the table, that make the difference. jmho from experience Willie ----------------- If ya got 'em, smoke 'em [ This message was edited by: TheWizard on 2012-01-16 12:20 ]
