OUSCHAN & FILLER REMAIN UNBEATEN AT PREDATOR CUES PREMIER LEAGUE POOL

Albin Ouschan and Joshua Filler both remain unbeaten at the top of the table after day two of the Predator Cues Premier League Pool at Stadium MK, Milton Keynes broadcast live on DAZN in the USA and networks worldwide including Matchroom.Live.

Scores and Table

Ouschan opened his day with a comfortable 5-2 display against Alexander Kazakis but found himself up against it in a battling hill hill finish against 2021 US Open runner-up Aloysius Yapp. The World No.1 made it six from six in the evening session against Mosconi Cup teammate Eklent Kaçi. Filler has also made a hot start with six wins from six in similar fashion to his European counterpart.

Kelly Fisher had one of the best days of all 16 players as the Women's World No.1 moved into the top 10 on the league table. The top 10 will make stage two on Saturday and Fisher beat Kaçi and Max Lechner 5-3 and 5-4 respectively before agonisingly missing out to Shane Van Boening after being 4-1 up. Fisher scratched on the two ball allowing Van Boening to complete a comeback in the final rack.

Van Boening is the only other unbeaten player in the field with the American fending off Omar Al-Shaheen in a 5-4 win in the day session before overcoming Naoyuki Oi 5-3 off the back of his win over Fisher.

OUSCHAN ON TOP AT PREDATOR CUES PREMIER LEAGUE POOL

Albin Ouschan won three matches from three on the opening day of the inaugural Predator Cues Premier League Pool at Stadium MK, Milton Keynes broadcast live on DAZN in the USA and networks worldwide.

Scores and Table

Ouschan returned to Milton Keynes with fond memories of the English venue having sealed his second world title on his last visit in June 2021. The Austrian started out against compatriot Max Lechner where he sealed a quick 5-3 win to get off to the best possible start before further wins over Mieszko Fortunski and Oliver Szolnoki. Ouschan's crowning moment of the day came in the opener though as he channelled his inner Efren Reyes to nail a Z shot on the three. Head to the Matchroom Pool Twitter to see it in full.

Fans were treated to a wealth of top-quality matches all day long and David Alcaide set the tone against his compatriot Sanchez Ruiz in the second match of the day with a 5-0 whitewash. Alcaide sits at number three in the 2022 Nineball World Rankings and sits well positioned with two wins from three on day one.

Shane Van Boening started out his Predator Cues Premier League Pool journey against Team USA Mosconi Cup teammate Skyler Woodward and it was the 2021 vice-captain who reigned supreme 5-3. Van Boening taking an opening point with a golden break in the final rack. Van Boening is looking for his first Matchroom individual title since the 2015 World Pool Masters and got revenge over Alexander Kazakis for defeat in the 2021 World Pool Masters final to have two points from two matches.

Welcome to 2022!

Report by: Can Ibrahim

The Solihull 9-Ball McDermott Series kicked off on a grizzly Sunday morning this weekend, and 48 participants turned up hoping to start their week with a bang. With cash up for grabs as well as ranking points towards the end of year Grand Final, there was plenty to play for!

Round 1 got off to a high standard start, with Adam Lewis, Daniel Baker and Tashunka Witko Fishonahook notably securing 7-0 wins. Luke Garland survived a tough match against a solid Lee Brooks, winning 7-5, and Shaun Berrisford survived an early hill-hill thriller against Joel Pascua.

Winners Round 1 served up some excitement and good performances too - local player Samer Al Iraqe narrowly lost out hill-hill against Gary Bullocke, and Adam Lewis won his 14th consecutive rack with his second 7-0, this time against GJ Oyangoren. Terry Challenger and Dave Hopkin had a good battle too, with Dave narrowly missing out 7-5.

Elsewhere some of the usual suspects were going about business as usual - Benji Buckley and Tommy Donlon were breezing through the early rounds.

Kazakis Rallies to Win Apex Wisconsin Open

Reporter: Predator Group Press Release

It only made sense that Alex Kazakis’s day end in the same way that it started.

As he progressed through the brackets of the single-elimination phase of the Apex Wisconsin Open, the young Greek’s performance resembled that of a yo-yo. Just when it seemed he was gaining momentum or about to close out a set, a mistake would cost him. Conversely, when it seemed Kazakis’s championship hopes were starting to wane, an opponent would miss or commit a crucial tactical error.

Through it all, Kazakis was able to preserve, surviving four consecutive matches which advanced to an extra-frame shootout to win the 64-player event Saturday night at the Ho-Chunk Resort and Casino in the Wisconsin Dells. The reigning World Pool Masters champion defeated former World 9-Ball Champion Fedor Gorst, reigning World 10-Ball champion Eklent Kaci, Filipino Lee Van Corteza and Kuwait’s Bader Alawadhi to earn his first championship on American soil. Kazakis’s title match against the Kuwaiti upstart was a microcosm of his day – overcoming a handful of self-inflicted wounds only to rally and survive the match in the shootout.

Alawadhi drew first blood in the championship match, taking advantage of a missed 9 ball by his opponent and adding a break-and-run to jump out to a quick 2-0 lead. Kazakis had a chance to retaliate in the third rack when his opponent missed a 5 ball and took full advantage, winning three straight games thanks to a break-and-run and an unforced error on the 5 ball in the fifth game by Alawadhi. With a chance to close out the set, Kazakis failed to pocket a ball on the break in the sixth game and Alawadhi cleared the table then promptly scratched on the break in the deciding rack, handing his opponent ball-in-hand and possibly the set.

New Logo and Prize Fund Increase for the Euro Tour in 2022

With the EPBF’s Euro Tour series entering its 31st year, it is the longest running 9-ball pool tour in the world. Having already paid out several millions in prize money over the years, the Euro Tour has increased the prize fund for 2022 from 228,000 Euro to 270,000 over the six tour stops. The winners at each event will now trouser €6,000 as their reward while beaten semi-finalists will pick up a cool €3,000 euros.

EPBF President Gre Leenders said, “With the launch of the Live TV Project, the step to increasing the prize money is a logical one. We try to increase the value of the Euro Tour every year and it says enough that the Euro Tour is entering its 31st year.

“The cooperation with Matchroom Multi Sport will also give the EuroTour an extra boost so that the prestige of the Euro Tour will increase even more.”
