Predator Championship League Pool brings 19 of the world’s best players together across eight days of top-class, quick-format 9-ball action.
Seven groups of seven players, each completed in one day, produce seven group winners who play in the high-stakes Winners’ Group to determine the winner of the Predator Championship League Pool. In each group every player faces each other in a race-to-five match, after which the top four contest the play offs; semi-finals and final.
Group winners will progress to the Winners’ Group while the player finishing seventh is eliminated. The runner-up, losing semi-finalists, and fifth and sixth-placed players will advance into the following group where they will be joined by two new players. The player finishing bottom of each group is eliminated.

MATCHROOM POOL SET FOR BLOCKBUSTER SPRING SCHEDULE
World Cup of Pool Returns In June, World Pool Masters And World Pool Championship Move To May
The 2021 World Cup of Pool will take place in England this June 5-10, while the World Pool Masters and World Pool Championship will move to new dates in May, giving fans a spring feast of 9-ball action, Matchroom Pool can announce.
The return of the World Pool Championship to the Matchroom stable will take place at Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes from Monday, May 10 until Friday, May 14 as the world’s top 128 players do battle to be crowned the new World Champion.
The World Pool Masters, to be staged in Gibraltar, will take place the following week, beginning on Saturday, May 22 and finishing on Tuesday, May 25.
Emily Frazer, Managing Director of Matchroom Multi Sport, said: “Despite the ever-changing climate which we are all facing, it is vital that we give as many of the top players from across the globe the opportunity to participate in our televised, top-tier events like the World Pool Championship and World Pool Masters, both of which will count towards the Matchroom Pool World Rankings this year. In delaying these events by one month, we are giving every opportunity to players to participate in these events.

Barry Hearn Awarded OBE
Barry Hearn, Chairman of the World Snooker Tour, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours for his services to sport.
The award comes as recognition of Hearn’s achievements in sports promotion over more than 40 years.
The 72-year-old Londoner has been involved in snooker since the 1970s, initially as manager of Steve Davis who went on to dominate the sport throughout the 1980s. Hearn formed the Matchroom stable of players, which also included stars Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor, Willie Thorne, Cliff Thorburn, Neal Foulds, Tony Meo and Terry Griffiths.
In 2010, Hearn was elected Chairman of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association – the sport’s governing body – and subsequently of its commercial arm the World Snooker Tour.
At the time, snooker was at its lowest ebb for 40 years, with just six ranking events on the calendar and total prize money of £3.5 million.
Over the decade that followed, Hearn led a global revolution of the sport. The number of tournaments grew to over 25, with total prize money increasing to £15 million. Events have been staged in over 20 countries worldwide, while snooker’s global television audience has grown to a massive 500 million fans. The professional tour now has 128 players from 21 different countries and regions.
Despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, this year there have been 20 tournaments, providing earning opportunities for the players and high quality live sport for viewers around the world. In July, snooker’s World Championship was the first UK indoor sporting event to safely welcome a crowd, following the national lockdown.
Hearn was inducted into the Snooker Hall of Fame in 2018.
He has enjoyed similar success with the Professional Darts Corporation, Matchroom Boxing and a wide range of other sports. Hearn was Chairman of Leyton Orient Football Club from 1995 to 2014, and is still President of the club.
He is Chairman of Matchroom Sport, one of the world’s leading sports promotion companies. In 2019, Matchroom staged a total of over 650 event days globally.
For 38 years, Matchroom Sport has donated millions of pounds to a wide-range of charities, including sports and community charities, and hospices for both children and adults.
In 2016 the Matchroom Sport Charitable Foundation was established and oversees funding to a number of charities, foundations and hospices across the UK.

TEAM EUROPE 11-3 TEAM USA
Ouschan/Filler 5-2 Van Boening/Woodward
Joshua Filler 5-0 Skyler Woodward
Ouschan/Gorst 3–5 Thorpe/Robinson
Jayson Shaw 5-3 Shane van Boening
Europe regained the partypoker Mosconi Cup with an emphatic 11-3 victory over Team USA which was completed by MVP Jayson Shaw at Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
Alex Lely’s side won three of the four matches played on Thursday evening to complete their first partypoker Mosconi Cup win since 2017, Shaw making the winning 9-ball against Shane van Boening.
“It feels great,” said Shaw, whose two singles and two doubles wins saw him become the first Brit to lift the Predator MVP trophy since Chris Melling in 2012. “I was feeling a little bit of pressure at the end there, but I played well to go 4-2 up, I really dug deep. I am delighted to win.
“If that had been in front of 3,000 fans it would have been great, but we will still enjoy this. They played well the last two years; you have to take your hat off to them. This time around we jelled better as a team, we played better in the doubles matches, and won a lot more lags which was massive because a lot of fames came down to hill-hill.”
“It feels amazing,” said European captain Alex Lely. “It has been quite a tussle; we have self-quarantined away from our families but we put a lot of work in and it paid off.”

TEAM EUROPE 8-2 TEAM USA
Jayson Shaw 5–4 Shane van Boening
Shaw/Filler 5-4 Woodward/Robinson
Fedor Gorst 5-2 Corey Deuel
Kaci/Ouschan 5-4 Van Boening/Thorpe
Jayson Shaw 5-3 Billy Thorpe
Europe are closing in on partypoker Mosconi Cup redemption having dominated the second day of play at Ricoh Arena, Coventry, live on Sky Sports Mix and DAZN.
Alex Lely’s side lead Team USA 8-2 having won all five matches played on Tuesday evening, Scotland’s Jayson Shaw leading from the front with two singles and a doubles win. It means Europe need just three more points to regain the Cup after two years of USA success.
“It is a good scoreline and was great play,” said European Captain Alex Lely. “There were a couple of hill-hill finishes and I am very content.
“Jayson has looked so good from day one in our preparations when we gathered here four days before the event. He has been doing out in the arena what he has been doing in the practice room.
“They are champions, they know that they are entitled to a little celebration now but nothing over the top, just game on tomorrow to try and finish as quickly and clinically as we can because we will be up against a lot of those guys next year.”

TEAM EUROPE 3-2 TEAM USA
Team Europe 3-5 Team USA
Filler/Gorst 5-2 Van Boening/Deuel
Eklent Kaci 5–4 Chris Robinson
Shaw/Ouschan 5-2 Woodward/Thorpe
Albin Ouschan 4-5 Shane van Boening
Europe lead the partypoker Mosconi Cup 3-2 after the opening day’s play at Ricoh Arena, Coventry, and the scoreline could have been worse for Team USA had Shane van Boening not won the last match of the night in the final rack against Albin Ouschan.
America made a perfect start when they won the opening match, which featured all five players from both teams. Europe were 3-0 up when momentum shifted after a shirt foul was called against Eklent Kaci. But Europe took the next three matches to lead the event, live on Sky Sports Mix and DAZN.
The fifth and final match of the session saw Ouschan take on Van Boening in a match which went hill-hill before the South Dakota Kid cleared the table to take the point after an Ouschan dry break.
“It was very cagey out there and we dodged a bullet, I think,” acknowledged European captain Alex Lely. “We were 3-0 up in the team match, lost that and then Fedor and Joshua were struggling. But they managed to win, and then Eklent Kaci managed to win because of Chris Robinson not getting there in the end."
