EARL’S BACK! STRICKLAND RETURNS FOR 25TH WORLD POOL MASTERS
Earl Strickland, one of pool’s most decorated players, will return to the World Pool Masters this March 2-4 in Gibraltar as part of a field of former champions competing for the tournament’s 25th title.
A three-time World Champion and five-time US Open winner, Strickland has collected just about every major title in 9-ball and was synonymous with America’s success in the Mosconi Cup for over a decade. He lifted the World Pool Masters in 1997, beating Steve Davis and Ronnie O’Sullivan en route to a final against Tommy Donlon and returns in Gibraltar to bid for his second title at pool’s biggest invitational event.
Hall of Famer Strickland will be joined in Gibraltar by the likes of six-time Masters winner Ralf Souquet, 2009 champion Darren Appleton and Holland’s Niels Feijen, who lifted the trophy in 2013. More big names will be announced shortly.

Scott Gilliespie - a well deserving winner!
Well after event 1 of the Cyclop Scottish 9 Ball tour, I think its safe to say from the feedback we received in the venue and online since that it was a big success, so thanks very much to all who attended or played in it.
Obviously it goes without saying Scott Gilliespie was a well deserving winner having played flawlessly throughout the event, so huge congrats to him, and also for Chris Fraser playing great getting to the final.
Would like to start by saying a huge thank you to Kelly Fisher and All Things Pool Ltd. for all the support and getting Cyclops involved as well as adding a real credibility to the tour.
We would also like to thank Gennaro Cortellessa and all his staff at the Ball Room. It was a great venue for the first event, the tables played well and the service was great all day, the venue was superb.
We also received great feedback from everyone on the quality of the stream so thanks to the guys at Premier Event Streaming - the quality of the streaming was first class and again it's great we have Stephen Tosh and the guys on board for all other events this year. To give an idea there were 65,000 video views yesterday, and over 800,000 people saw the post about the Tour. As well as the streaming big thanks to Christopher Slack, Andrew Will, Stephen Mccuish, and Stephen Slater for providing commentary of the matches again the feedback was very positive.

Van Boening Earns Fifth US Bar Table 9-Ball Champion title

Shane Van Boening of South Dakota added a fifth US Bar Table 9-Ball Championship to his resume Thursday at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, beating James Aranas of the Philippines in the finals, 9-2.
Van Boening went into the finals undefeated, posting wins over: Abrin Schaad, 9-6; Ernesto Dominguez, 9-3; Oscar Dominguez, 9-7; Billy Stephan, 9-1 and Mitch Ellerman, 9-4. Van Boening beat Aranas to earn the hot seat, 9-7.
Aranas’ path to the finals included beating: Donald Weatherby II, 9-3; Jeremy Edwards, 9-7; Jason Klatt, 9-6; Sky Woodward, 9-8; and Amar Kang, 9-7. After losing the hot seat match, Aranas beat Jesse Engle, 9-2, to earn a place in the finals.
Van Boening kept control in the final match from the start, jumping out to a 4-2 lead. In the seventh rack, the players traded safeties until a kick by Van Boening left the one ball open for Aranas, who then uncharacteristically missed a six ball to let Van Boening back to the table. They traded safeties again until Aranas made a good hit on the seven ball and then scratched, giving Van Boening the game. Van Boening then broke and ran, to go up 6-2. Aranas scratched again in the next rack, giving up another game. Van Boening broke and ran again, then ran out the final rack after Aranas broke dry.
