2017 Longoni Benelux Open | Complete Info & Entry Form
Dear 10ball enthusiast,
Hereby, I would like to invite you to participate in the 2017 Longoni Benelux Open, 9th edition, and once again, with a € 10.000+ guaranteed prize fund.
For the fourth year in a row, the event will be hosted by pool and snooker club Thurston Rotterdam: Thursday - Sunday, September 7th - 10th 2017.
Additionally, there will be qualification groups in Scandinavia - in Norway and in Sweden - hosted by Haag Cues! The Longoni Benelux Open is crossing borders.
The world port of Rotterdam welcomes you to yet an other spectacular weekend of 10ball. The city offers sightseeing, lots of nice restaurants, places to go out and a fun shopping experience. World class pros will attend the Longoni Benelux Open in the annual battle for the prestigious cup, the fame and the prize money. Last years' Ladies Side Events were a wonderful addition to the 10ball spectacle, as well as last year's first edition of the Juniors Side Event.
To add to the prestige of the Longoni Benelux Open, also this year, 2017 Mosconi Cup Team Europe Ranking Points are to be earned in the Final 32 Stage on Sunday September 10th, during the Main Event. Obviously, the best of the best will be in fierce battle for these high stakes.
So, be part of the action, the excitement and the fun. ENLIST NOW! Enlist for one of the qualification groups and state your preference for a second choice (just in case, your first choice of a qualification group is already full). Reply to this mail, fill in the entry form, below, and send!
The pooltables will be refitted by Serge Das Billiards with pro pockets, Iwan Simonis 860 cloth and new Super Aramith Pro-Cup TV balls. MEZZ CUES BALTIC POOL LEAGUE II STAGE PRODUCED ANOTHER RECORD
Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League second stage was held in Kaunas, Lithuania, in a beautiful ENTRY pool hall. This event was special as it had the most participants ever and not only in Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League, but it was the biggest ever pool tournament in the Baltics with 115 participants from 10 different countries. The historical event was won in the Men's division by Estonian Denis Grabe and in Women and Oldboys division by Latvian Genadijs Kaminskis.
Grabe came back strong
After some break Denis Grabe participated again in the event and he did not let his fans down as he cruised to a comfortable 8:2 win in the final against the young and upcoming Lithuanian Pijus Labutis. Grabe was even stronger in his semi final when he got the better of Finn John Tanttu by a score 8:1. Labutis, however, had to dig deep to reach the final as he had to win a thriller hill-hill match against overall ranking leader Tuomas Riipinen from Finland.
After the second stage the overall ranking top three is Tuomas Riipinen, 11 years old Estonian Karl Gnadenberg and Lithuanian Rytis Kavaliauskas.

Europe v USA showdown set for Mandalay Bay
MATCHROOM SPORT is excited to announce that Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, one of the premium resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, will host the 24th annual Mosconi Cup taking place from December 4 – 7, 2017. Making its ninth appearance in Las Vegas, the Mosconi Cup is pool’s biggest brand as two five-man teams representing the USA and Europe go head-to-head in a series of singles and doubles matches.
Televised throughout the four days of competition, the event is aired live in an incredible 144 countries around the world, including Sky Sports in the UK and Eleven Sports Network in the USA.
Mandalay Bay is one of the Las Vegas Strip’s most striking properties. Set on 120 lush acres near the south end of The Strip, the resort boasts more than 3,300 rooms and over 40 restaurants, bars and lounges. Mandalay Bay will play the perfect host the biggest event in cue sports.
With total domination by Team Europe in recent times – America last held the Cup aloft in 2009 – the American squad will be counting on some big home support in an arena set up to take the biggest crowd in United States Mosconi Cup history.
Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn commented, “I’ve stayed at Mandalay Bay many times over the years and I’m very excited to be bringing the Mosconi Cup there in December. Crowds have grown year-on-year both in Europe and Las Vegas and we will be looking to smash attendance records this year. Aslam Abubaker – Simonis Grand Prix Champion
The BWPPA tour descended on Escape Pool Bar in Barnsley once again for tour stop 2 of the campaign, the Simonis Grand Prix. This event saw the largest field for a BWPPA tour weekend in a number of years. Among the entrants were 2 debutants Lee Woodward from Birmingham, and Graham Brown from London. We were also delighted to welcome back to the tour Sheffield’s Gary Swift and Birmingham’s Adam Pearson.
Brown couldn’t have had a tougher welcome to the BWPPA tour losing 7-1 to former BWPPA #1 Abubaker. Abubaker followed that up by winning two tough matches, he beat current #1 and man of the moment Daniel Lee 7-5 before coming through a hill-hill encounter with Swift 7-6.

Pool players around the UK will be returning to Telford in June as the 9th annual Paul Medati Trophy once again takes place at the Park Inn by Raddison hotel.
Players of all disciplines, not least 9-ball and snooker, will have memories of Paul as a player and a genuinely great person. Paul started in the snooker ranks, becoming a professional player in his earlier life before turning to 9-ball. Paul played in the inaugural season of GB9 back in 2008 before sadly losing his battle with cancer shortly afterwards. Paul is remembered as one of the friendliest players on tour and was rarely seen without a smile on his face. The event was dedicated to Paul in 2009 and has been hosted every year since, becoming one of the most sought after titles of the year.
This year’s event will begin on the afternoon of Friday 23 June, with the main event concluding on the Saturday evening. Mark Gray picked up his second main event title of 2016 at this event last year and will be bidding to retain the title previously won by the likes of Craig Osborne, Mick Hill and Chris Melling in recent years.

2017 IPA Tour Event 2 – The English Open
The location was Bradford, the venue the Bradford Hotel, for the second intriguing stop on the 2017 IPA Tour and up for grabs were three titles – the Open, The Professional and the Amateur events, all in association with long term sponsors JLEC.
200 plus of the best pool players descended on West Yorkshire all eager not only for the titles, but to also sample the great atmosphere and camaraderie that engulfs each IPA event. As well as the usual suspects – with Professional Number One Marc Farnsworth leading the way, we also welcomed top snooker Professional Mark Allen, who had come to see what all the fuss was about.
We started off on Friday with the Open event, which was paused around 8pm for the Annual IPA Awards, which celebrate the fantastic achievements of these highly skilled blackball players we are all so lucky to have with us on the number one tour.
