Dear 10ball enthusiast,

Hereby, I would like to invite you to participate in the 2016 Longoni Benelux Open, 8th edition, and once again, with a € 10.000+ guaranteed prize fund.

For the third year in a row, the event will be hosted by pool and snooker club Thurston Rotterdam: Thursday - Sunday, September 8th - 11th 2016.

The world port of Rotterdam welcomes you to a spectacular weekend of 10ball. The city offers sightseeing, lots of nice restaurants, places to go out and a fun shopping experience. World class pros will attend the Longoni Benelux Open in the annual battle for the prestigious cup, the fame and the prize money. Last years' Ladies Side Events were a wonderful addition to the 10ball spectacle. So, it calls for a third edition! Moreover, for the first time, we will host a Juniors Side Event to make this celebration of pool even bigger and better.

To add to the prestige of the Longoni Benelux Open, this year, 2016 Mosconi Cup Ranking Points are to be earned in the Final 32 Stage on Sunday September 11th, during the Main Event. In addition, this year's Longoni Benelux Open is the EXCLUSIVE European qualification event for two direct entry spots for 'Stage 2' at the 2016 Kuwait Open 9ball Championship. Obviously, the best of the best will be in fierce battle for these high stakes.

So, be part of the action, the excitement and the fun. ENLIST NOW! Enlist for one of the qualification groups and state your preference for a second choice (just in case, your first choice of a qualification group is already full). Also state whether you want to enter for the Kuwait Open qualification spots (additional €150). Reply to this mail, fill in the entry form, below, and send!

The pooltables will be refitted by Serge Das Billiards with pro pockets, Iwan Simonis 860 cloth and new Super Aramith Pro-Cup TV balls. Eightballfactory is the official billiard supplies partner and as in previous years, Haag Cues will set up a shaft maintenance booth for all your needs: new tips, cleaning etc. The Longoni Benelux Open endorses Kamui tips and accessories: go for excellence.

See you in Rotterdam,

Serge Das & Çakti Aswan
Longoni Benelux Open, since 2009

Fantastic Isaac Defends Title to Become Three Time National Snooker Champion
Report by Alan Morris

Sargon Isaac has successfully defended his United States National Snooker Championship title by defeating Ahmed Aly Elsayed in the 2016 final at the 147 Snooker Club in Houston, Texas, to become a three times Champion.

The 30-year-old first won the title back in 2012, though lost in the final in the following year and was heavily defeated in the semifinals in 2014; but over the past two Championships he has stepped up to the mark and has outperformed all of his closest rivals.

As the defending champion and number one seed he was certainly the player to beat this year. He eased through his Group A matches with the loss of just one frame; was a very convincing 4-0 quarterfinal winner against Cheang Ciing Yoo; and although the alarm bells would have started to ring when he fell 2-0 behind to Raymond Fung in the semifinals, he tenaciously came back to run out a comfortable 4-2 winner.

Number three seed Aly played impressively and composed throughout this year's Championship, and so would have gone into the match feeling positive that he could take revenge for last year's final defeat and win a fourth title. The 36-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, who last tasted success back in 2011 when he won his third title in succession, breezed through his Group C matches for the loss of just one frame; was a comfortable 4-1 winner over Rizwan Khan in the quarterfinals; and came through a testing semifinal 4-2 against the twice former champion, Ajeya Prabhakar.

Watching the final was the veteran professional pool star and fabulous trick-shot artist Mike Massey, who himself was runner-up in this Championship back in 1993.
Isaac took his earlier form straight into the final on this Memorial Day Monday holiday as he raced away with the first frame, but Aly managed to steady the ship and seal a very good frame two, and a close match seemed to be a real prospect.

Daniel Lee

Lee wins Simonis Northern 9-ball Open, and Southern takes the Challenge Cup Crown

After a great start to the 2016 season at the ‘BWPPA/BWCSA Pool Academy’ at Stoke Mandeville, it was back to one of our favourite venues, as the Escape Pool Bar in Barnsley hosting the 2nd BWPPA event of the season on 14/15 May 2016.

Daniel Lee narrowed the gap at the top of the rankings to Fred Dinsmore, as he won his second event in the last three, with a convincing 7-3 win over Roy Kimberley.

As Dinsmore was the No. 1 seed, he received a first round bye, then had a solid 7-2 win over Danny Luton, to advance to the winners qualifying round where he had a 7-4 win over old rival Aslam Abubaker to reach the semi-finals, where he would face Kimberley.

Tkach wins Women North Cyprus Open Euro-Tour

With a convincing 7:3 victory over Marharyta Fefilava (BLR), Kristina Tkach (RUS) won the Women North Cyprus Open Euro-Tour in Acapulco Hotel and Resort, Kyrenia, North Cyprus.

After having lost her first match in the tournament 6:7 to Melanie Suessenguth (GER), Tkach started her quest for glory and defeated all of her opponents to come. In the final, she dominated Fefilava and simply played much better than her in order to win the match and the tournament with 7:3.

The semi-final between Kristina Tkach and Kateryna Polovinchuk (UKR) was a clear affair in favor of Tkach. She was simply too strong today for the Ukrainian. Veronika Ivanovskaia (GER) was ousted by a hair’s breadth with 6:7 by Fefilava.

In the quarter-finals, Tkach just made it with 7:5 over strong Spaniard Amalia Matas (ESP). Polovinchuk sent Ina Kaplan (GER) home with 7:4. Ivanovskaia got the better of fellow teammate Kristina Grim (GER) 7:5 and Fefilava won 7:6 in a heartbreaker that was determined by several mistakes in the end over Marika Poikkijoki (FIN).

He takes his first Euro-Tour title

Mario He (AUT) just defeated Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) in the final of the Dynamic Billard North Cyprus Open with 9:5 and took his first Euro-Tour title ever.

The final match saw both players under completely different conditions. Ekonomopoulos especially needed the points from the victory to make it to the Mosconi Cup Team Europe again. He was under a lot of pressure. On the other hand, Mario He had once entered a Euro-Tour final in 2009 which he lost. Last year, he achieved a few third places but really had not so much to lose. He is on fire at the time, winning the German Bundesliga with his team and a Grand Prix event in Austria in the last weeks. Both of the contestants started out quite self-confident. Rack 3 saw the first missed shots of the match. After five racks, He was leading by a small margin 3:2. He then took the next two racks and increased this advantage to 5:2. That was a huge lead in a race to 9. At that point in time, Ekonomopoulos had just committed some mistakes and needed a time-out which he took in order to get his senses together again. But he could not stop He from winning his racks. The Austrian was too strong today for Ekonomopoulos and he consequently took the points he needed to win the event 9:5.

„I really played well here“, stated He after the final, „I am feeling well and I can put this in my game and on the table when I play“. „This is my first Euro-Tour victory and I feel really self-confident about my game at the moment“, added He.
