Calendar Girls

Voer Kafe is one of the nicest pool clubs in Spain. It is situated in Málaga on the Costa del Sol and has a total of 18 tables. 8 of which are 9 feet and 10 others which are 7 feet.

Two of the 9 foot tables are in private rooms which can be hired at a very reasonable cost for parties or groups of friends etc. Each room is equipped with comfortable seating, a service telephone for summoning a waitress and a video camera for those who wish to capture their games on film.

A substantial bar area separated from the main room by a full size glass partition is where the 4 girls who comprise the bar staff and waitresses are to found offering a full service of drinks.

One day in November, during one of the rare quiet periods, the girls were talking about the upcoming festive season, and someone mentioned the world famous Pirelli Calendar.
Jokingly, one of the girls said “why don’t we make a calendar”, the idea was born and they spoke to Javier Clavijo, owner of the club and he said “why not” he was a capable photographer and he would take photos and send them to a local printer with the club bearing the costs.

The idea quickly took off, a photo session was arranged and a local printer was cajoled into producing the calendar at a viable cost.

These calendars are now being sold to the clients of the club for 15 euros each and so far about 60 have found their way into the homes of the pool players of Málaga.

To the hard working staff of this club, Javier has promised them 100% of the profits from this venture as his way of saying thank you to them for their hard work during the year.

Top marks for initiative and well done to Javi for rewarding those that help to make the club the success that it is and who are often forgotten by the management.
