The writing is on the wall after a massive swing in wop1's favour as john111 loses a
crucial hand in the final "head-to-head" stage of the tournament.

Cambridge beats Pro9... This time!

Yes, chalk one up for Cambridge as they beat the Pro9 horse to the finish line at the latest MickeyFlynssPoker.com $5,000 Qualifier.

A tidy 33 runners eventually entered the fifth MickeyFlynnsPoker.com $5,000 Qualifier including some new Pro9 sign-ups and the old regulars from Cambridge.

The enigmatically named "wop1" was the unlikely winner after trailing the entire event with a large chip deficit, but he "pulled out the stops" when it truly counted with a mighty display of poker smarts.

"Read More..." for the details.

Look... See? I (BIGNBAD) was top of the leader-board with a MASSIVE chip lead.
"John111" was trailing badly in a lowly 7th place,
"phil9ball" only just struggling into the top ten,
and eventual winner "wop1" nowhere to be seen!

In sharp contrast to last months performance, I was 'chip leader' with over 5000 chips after the first few sessions, and I wish I had then tightened up my game and just waited for the final table. Unfortunately I continued to play aggressively, with bad cards, and lost it all (mainly to Phil - he always does that!)

This was by far the most exciting tournament so far, with some very memorable hands and the two remaining tables being completely different.

The two remaining tables couldn't have been more different. Table A was as loose as the proverbial lady's "drawers" and Table B was as tight as the proverbial duck.

"All-in-for-the-win" was the motto on Table A as chips were thrown about with wild abandon and players were putting their entire stack on the table every five minutes and even pre-flop occasionally, whilst Table B was only being played by the "blinds".

One of the many beautiful and monstrous hands dealt at this particular tournament.

Players who lost big stacks at these later stages had to be put on "suicide watch" as they obviously realised they were no longer "contenders" with such a disparity in chip stacks, and would be seen to figuratively throw themselves of the cliff edge with an 'all-in' shortly after a 'big beat'.

After this hand "bigpoppa" had to be put on a "suicide watch".

Phil's last hand of the penultimate session was an absolute monster - a hidden KK before the flop meant he had to raise john111 until an 'all-in' had a chance of being called. It was a tremendous chance to really dominate the game after the
break. "I wish he had called my 'all-in' with KK", said Phil, but john111 wasn't tempted and it wasn't to be.

"Indiana Jones and the Trip Queens of Doom" - Phil takes out Indy with his "harem of ladies".

Phil slays player after player, but he knows there's one player that is very dangerous at the moment.

"Need to get rid of John", said Phil, during the five minute break before the final session, showing that he knew full well where the current danger lay in this game.

When play resumed Phil had no cards and no stomach for the "bullying" that john111 was able to dish out, being in the chip leader position.

"I never hit a thing after the break", said Phil, as his fast diminishing chip stack got smaller and smaller.

"wop1" finally makes his move after catching some good cards very late in the game.

Surprisingly it was "wop1" that was the bigger threat in the end and played an outstanding end-game to finish in pole position.
