"Boomerang" versus "The Machine"

Team BBC will kick off the New Year with a “Money Match Extravaganza” weekend to be held in Pool World on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th January 2008.

This event came about as a result of Mick Hill stating on the uk8ball site that in an effort to get back his hunger for the game he wouldn’t mind some match practice for the odd penny or two!!! A few telephone calls later and we have one of the most prolific money match players in the UK playing against Simon Ward (who has only ever played for the odd penny or two lol), for a grand a man!!! This should be a cracking match between 2 players who have never met each other (on the table) before and who have two very different styles of play. Mick is of course the favourite, but playing a race to 20 at blackball rules on Simon’s home turf at Pool World, amongst what will be a very partisan Welsh crowd, might just shorten the odds a little.

"Read More..." for the details.

Mick will warm up for his match against Simon with a best of 29 match against the current EBA World Masters Champion Mark “Twiggy” Bowen at 9pm on the Friday night after Craig “the Buddah” Marsh has played Rob Chilton for the same stake of £500 a man over the same distance.

Also on the “undercard” is what will no doubt be a riotous team match with Mick and friends (Melling, Raybone & Chilton) ie. Team England, pitting themselves against Team Wales who will consist of Ben Davies, Mark Bowen, Craig Marsh and Tom Cousins. This will start at 4pm on the Saturday afternoon and in best of 33 match the lads will be playing for £1000 a team - there is no doubt that this encounter should get the atmosphere “buzzin” in readiness for the main event at 8pm.

The venue where the event is being held ie. Pool World in Neath which is run by the Bushnell family,
is a spacious venue with 11 Supreme tables and 1 snooker table. During events such as these Mother Rose Bushnell ensures that, as well as the obvious liquid refreshments, the bar is well stocked with hot and cold snacks and her freshly made rolls are a must!

For anyone wishing to stay over in Neath for this event please pm textkitten who will organise accommodation at a reduced rate at The Castle Hotel, which is literally “just around the corner” from the venue. The hotel also has a residents car park. For those who are driving to the venue parking is only available on the pedestrianised area outside the club after 6pm. - prior to that parking is available in the Millend Long Stay Car Park which is approximately a 5 minute walk away.

Alternatively Neath Train Station is a convenient 2 minute walk from Pool World.

See poster for full details of this not to be missed event.
