After four days of intense competition in Hamilton, New Zealand, the WPA World Championships have reached a pivotal stage. Here’s a recap of the key moments and results so far.
The Yalin WPA Men’s World 8-Ball Championship has 8 players remaining.
Marco Teutscher’s 10-6 victory over Albin Ouschan is particularly sweet, as he is based in Hamilton and competed in front of his friends and family. After overcoming recent health challenges, this triumph, which propels him to the quarterfinals, is a moment of glory for Teutscher.

Chinese Taipei continues to demonstrate its strength in pool, with three players in the Final 8: Kun-Lin Wu, Jung-Lin Chang, and Jui-An Hsu. Former 2012 World 8-Ball Champion Jung-Lin Chang is aiming to reclaim his title and the $75,000 awarded to the champion.

In the Massé Women’s World 9-Ball Championship, 16 players remain. Defending champion Chou Chieh-Yu is out, having been defeated by Rubilen Amit in the loser qualification in three sets: 0-4, 4-0, 4-2. Amit will face her fellow countrywoman Chezka Centeno in the quarterfinals.

The Predator WPA Junior World Championships also kicked off on Thursday. Adrian Prasad avenged last year’s final by defeating Derin Asaku Sitorus 7-0 in the first round.
Semifinals of the five world championships are scheduled for Saturday, with the finals on Sunday, New Zealand time.
