MEZZ CUES BALTIC POOL LEAGUE 2018 TALLINN

Mezz Cues Baltic Pool League 2018 (BPL) fourth and final qualification stage was held in the Estonian capital Tallinn. The name of the game was eight ball. The host for the event was Hill Hill Pool Club. The winners of the third stage were Denis Grabe (EST), Ekaterina Polovinchuk (UKR) and Petteri Karapuu (FIN).

Grabe back on track

As always when Grabe participates in the BPL then he is one of the favourites to win it, and this time there was no exception. The fact is one from one, i.e. one stage participated and one win. Grabe showed his A game right from the start and never really was challenged. In the final he faces another Estonian Mark Mägi who was looking for his second stage win in the row. However, Grabe crushed his intentions with a solid 7:3 win. Third places were Kait Hinn (EST) and Vladislav Shopik (BLR).

As it often is in Estonia the Estonians dominated the event. There were once again six Estonians in the top eight.

Polovinchuk dominating continues

In the beginning of the season there was a question whether Polovinchuk will fill Margaret Fefilova’s place on the top of the women BPL. The answer is that she has won all three stages of BPL in which she participated. This time she won in the final 6:1 the last stage winner Yana Shut (BLR). Third places went to Anastasiya Kosareva (BLR) and Riikka Väyrynen (FIN).

Karapuu takes the Oldboys gold

Last stage in Riga was a little taste of what is still coming for Karapuu. Riga’s bronze medal obviously was not enough for the Finn, and in Tallinn he went all the way. Probably the most even final of the Tallinn stage saw Karapuu pocketing the eight ball and securing a 6:4 win over Aleksandrs Schukin (RUS). Both of the third places went to Latvia for Gatis Taube and Guntars Grinums.
