GB9 Launches 2017 Tour

The GB 9 Ball Tour are pleased to announce their plans for the 2017 season. Applications are now being taken with the closing date for applications and deposits extended until 15 January 2017..

We are pleased to announce that the tour will once again host all five of its events at the stunning Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Telford and are hugely grateful for the continued support given by the hotel and its staff.

The tour can only continue with the dedicated support that has been previously shown by its members and we require at least 90 signed up members (applications and deposits) by 15 January 2017. If the required number of members do not sign up for the tour the hotel are likely to not want to continue its support and the tour will not proceed, which is something that nobody wants to happen.

The tour will be limited to the first 96 signed up members and we have already began receiving player applications. Once all spots have been filled your name will be added to a reserve list and you will be contacted if a spot becomes available. If you are not one of the first 96 registered players your deposit will be refunded.

The 2017 tour will operate in a similar format to that of 2016, with 4 classified events held across the weekend (subject to entry requirements being met):

·         Main Event
·         Pro Event
·         Challenge Tier 1
·         Challenge Tier 2

Additional events will be organised across the weekend and details of these events will become available on an event by event basis.

The tour is committed to taking feedback from its members and is already looking into the format of the tour in 2018. If anybody would like to contribute to the design of the tour, please email a member of the GB9 Committee.

Please note the following highlights of the 2017 tour:

·         The tour will be limited to 96 members – 16 pro’s plus 80 challenge players.
·         All 5 events will be held at the Park Inn by Radisson Telford, UK.
·         The Main Event will be double elimination to the last 16 followed by straight knockout.
·         The official UK No.1 and No.2 at the end of the season will receive a cash bonus of £1,000 and £500 respectively.
·         The Pro Event will remain a 16 player, double elimination to last 8 event. If you wish to be considered for the Pro Event, please indicate this on your application form.
·         We will retain the two-tier Challenge Events (subject to entry requirements being met).
·         The match schedule will be re-visited and any free table time utilised for potential side events.

Committee Updates

You may already be aware but Andy Warden has resigned his position as Chairperson from the end of 2016. I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Andy for all of his efforts in bringing the tour to where it is today and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Adam Stevens has put himself forward to take the Chairperson’s role from 2017 and this has been accepted by the GB9 Committee. Adam has taken on various roles within the Committee since he joined in 2009, most recently being the tour Secretary.

Adam will take up the Chairperson’s role in the interim until the 2017 AGM, which is expected to be held on Friday 23 June prior to the GB9 Paul Medati Trophy. All members are welcome at the AGM and can put themselves forward for committee membership, including the roles of Secretary, Treasurer and Chairperson.

The Committee is also seeking volunteers to join the tour Committee and for assistance with setup & breakdown of the tour events. Without the support of the volunteers in these roles, the tour would not be able to function and so it’s vitally important that these are filled. If you have an interest in either of these voluntary positions, please email Adam directly.
