Someone from over here, doing remarkably well, over there!

Some great news from the recent World Artistic Pool Championships - British Pro9'er, Adam (Carnage) Nickels came in at 20th position overall. They were performing on 9 foot diamond tables (not 7 foot as was the case last year) with a harder shot program which omitted some of the easier shots from last year with new harder ones.

Last year, Adam was awarded the Best Sportsmanship Medal - the only medal decided by popular vote among the players themselves. This year, Adam won another medal which this time was a skill medal called "The Rising Star" award. It is awarded to the highest score for any competitor that has competed in 3 or less competitions in the past. Being his second competition he was eligible for this award. He was awarded with the medal, a custom jump cue from Jacoby which looks beautiful and a year's membership to Iplaypool.com a pool website worth $129.

Adam with Tim Chin - 2015 Masse Champion.

Adam also got to meet and play with the best in the world. To name a few -

Gabi Visoiu "Mr Perfect"- Gabi came in first place and is the New Champion of the World and a good friend of Adam's since last year when they performed a one off show together in Exeter, and they are working on getting another show together soon and possibly an English championship.

Florian Kohler "Venom" - Florian came second and is the first artistic pool player Adam ever saw online, he now has over a quarter of a billion views on Youtube, arguably the most famous artistic pool player on the planet right now.

Andy Segal "The Magic Man" - Andy is ranked no.1 in the world and was the guy responsible for getting Adam to last yearss World Championships. He is a fantastic person and gave Adam some one on one time with him which helped me lock down a shot giving Adam an extra six points. He did that in his free time and asks for nothing in return, he just wants to see people do their best, a true sportsman.
Nick Nikolaidas "Quick Nick" - Nick was the 2014 World Champion and helped Adam with some sports psychology issues he was having, he also helped him get around the area and they spent a lot of time together outside competition.

I have not seen the updated rankings but Adam should have moved up from 34th in the world to 20-something. He will keep his position of ranked 3rd in Europe and No.1 in the UK.
