16-20 October 2012

Alcano lost his first match and won 8 in a row to become the champion in Louisiana

New Iberia, Louisiana- Ronnie "The Volcano" Alcano just needed a little time to erupt. He arrived fresh off the plane and took a loss off the bat, but then was unstoppable. In eight consecutive matches, he was unthreatened .The Championship Cloth 5th Annual Pro Classic events are a pro 9-Ball and 10-Ball event during October 16th-20th, 2012. The events take place side by side to the Ozone Billiards US Amateur Open all hosted by Emerald Billiards and produced by Dragon Promotions. The event is co-sponsored by Predator Cues, Poison Cues, Aramith Balls, Pool & Billiard Magazine and sanctioned as an ABP International Rankings Points Tournament.

Robb Saez was the victim in the finals, thought Saez had been burning them up on his side of the charts. Saez had a tight 9-8 win over Adam Smith when Smith faltered on the 7ball case game, but Saez burned through his opponents after including a 9-3 over Wang Can and 9-2 over Charlie Williams in the hot seat finals.

Alcano dusted through Bustamante, Israel Rota, Mike Davis, Wang Can, Ralph Eckert, Charlie WiIlliams.

In the finals, Saez and Alcano both kept it close playing fast and furious. The score was tied at 5-5, when Saez was running out and shot an easy dead 5ball to 7ball combo. Ronnie called a loss of turn because Saez did not call the ball. This turned the tide of the match and Saez was not able to regain control of the match. Alcano cruised through to a 11-7 victory.

The most happiest person of the win might be Shane Van Boening who sponsored Alcano in this event. Alcano actually defeated Shane to knock him out. But its likely he was forgiven now with Ronnie's final victory.

The Championship Cloth Pro Classic 10-Ball is in progress now with all the players having a second chance to win. Day 4 continues today and ends tomorrow.

Alcano Does It the Hard Way at Emerald Billiards

Alcano looking pretty sporty and hard to stop

He meets #8 ABP seed Robb Saez of the USA tonight in the final match! The Championship Cloth 5th Annual Pro Classic events are a pro 9-Ball and 10-Ball event during October 16th-20th, 2012. The events take place side by side to the Ozone Billiards US Amateur Open all hosted by Emerald Billiards and produced by Dragon Promotions. The event is co-sponsored by Predator Cues, Poison Cues, Aramith Balls, and sanctioned as an ABP International Rankings Points Tournament.

Alcano jumped on a plane, arrived last minute, took a beating 9-2 at the hands of Hunter Lomardo, and has been unbeatable since then. He took out Mike Davis 9-5, Ralf Eckert 9-6, Israel Rota 9-4, Shane Van Boening 9-6. Bustamante 9-5, Wan Can 9-3, and Charlie Williams 9-6 to reach the finals.

Alcano has been so respected and convincing as a top player, that Shane Van Boening sponsored and backed him on the trip.

"He's a great player. I brought him over here for all these tournaments as an investment".

Saez has been undefeated and has also been playing well with blowout matches, so it should be a terrific finals tonight!

Robb Saez Wins Hot Seat at Championship Cloth Pro Classic 9-Ball

Robb Saez has the hot hand of the event so far. He waits in the finals

New Iberia, Louisiana- #8 ABP seed Robb "Robbin Hood" Saez has gone undefeated thus far at the Championship Cloth Pro Classic 9-Ball to take his seat into the finals. He took out China's Wang Can and Charlie Williams last night to get there.

Saez dominated both his matches in the final four undefeated. He seemed to find the sweet spot to break from and ran several racks in his matches. He ran 5 total racks against Wang and 4 racks against Williams. Wang managed only 3 games while Williams got 2. He came with superb offensive power, great breaks, kicking and seemed to be able to do no wrong.

As he was stone faced and grimacing even after the wins, he was asked why wasn't he smiling for the victory.
He replied simply, "Because I haven't won the tournament yet".

Saez has come close to winning major points ranking events before with a 4th at the Pro Tour Championship few years ago and then a 2nd at the 2011 Players Championship. If he wins today it will be his first pro ranking points victory.

Promoter hands World Champs Bustamante & Hohmann First Losses

Defending Champion and promoter Williams showing that he can still do it all

New Iberia, Louisiana- Event promoter, producer, and sometimes pro player Charlie Williams somehow managed to hand two world champs a huge loss in his Louisiana event. 3x World Champion Thorsten Hohmann and World Champion Francisco Bustamante were victims of Williams hot hand. The Championship Cloth Pro Classic events are a pro 9-Ball and 10-Ball event during October 16th-20th, 2012. The events take place side by side to the Ozone Billiards US Amateur Open all hosted by Emerald Billiards and produced by Dragon Promotions. The event is co- sponsored by Predator Cues, Poison Cues, and Aramith Balls.

Williams jumped out to a 6-0 lead against Hohmann. Thorsten was able to come back and make a match of it, but Williams played superbly and finished off the final opening left by Hohmann to win 9-6. Coincidentally, Hohmann defeated Williams just 3 days ago 9-6 at the Johnny Archer Classic, which was also produced by Williams company Dragon Promotions.

Bustamante ran over Cliff Joyner 9-1 his first match and then defeated Ralph Eckert 9-4, and Sylver Ochoa 9-3 with no contests. Williams jumped to a 2-0 lead, and while Bustamante came back with 3 games in a row to take the lead back, Charlie Williams took control of the match with 6 straight games and won 9-4.

"I'm playing good but feel like I could miss anything", laughed Williams who admitted he hasnt played much nor had time to warm up during the events.

Only two players remain undefeated. Robb Saez will play Williams for the hot seat.

Hohmann takes Down #1 Van Boening: Hunter Slays Alcano at Pro Classic

A look at last night's action at Emerald Billiards in Louisiana

New Iberia, Louisiana- #16 seed Thorsten Hohmann of Germany took down #1 seed Shane Van Boening of USA on Day 1 of the Championship Cloth 5th Annual Pro Classic. The Dragon Promotions Pro Classic events are a pro 9-Ball and 10-Ball event during October 16th-20th, 2012. The events take place side by side to the Ozone Billiards US Amateur Open all hosted by Emerald Billiards and produced by Dragon Promotions.

Hohmann dominated the match from beginning to end in a convincing 9-3 win. Hohmann had a long streak of losses to Van Boening for 2 years, until ironically, last year's Pro Classic where he finally defeated Shane in the semi-finals. And, on the same tv table, they played last night where Hohmann made Shane relive that moment.

"I played well but also was fortunate off my breaks", said Hohmann. Hohmann will move into the 3rd round and face #9 seed Charlie Williams.

Van Boening went to a practice table after the match and worked on his 9-ball break, perfecting it a little too late as he shrugged his shoulders.

Earlier in the day, up and coming Hunter Lombardo continues his rising play with a 9-2 dominating win over Ronnie Alcano. Hunter was able to neutralize Alcano with several break and runs. Alcano was late for his match as he arrived from the airport and seemed to get more in stroke later as he bounced back with 2 wins including a major win over Mike Davis.
