Runner up Chris Slack, who picked up a very healthy second prize of £1,250, nearly didn't take part in the final having arrived with seconds to spare following a car accident. Two other competitors had to pop down to the local shopping centre for a change of clothing having forgotten the dress code of no jeans or trainers!
Maurice Kelly, CEO of Rileys said: "English Pool is a very popular pastime which was underlined by the phenomenal number of entries we received for this competition; this was one of the biggest to date. £10,000 is a big prize fund for any amateur tournament and it's great to be able to give these players the chance to win a share of it."
