LOOP Pool Bar - Croydon

LOOP pool bar is pleased to announce the RELAUNCH of its mid-week pool competition from 6th September 2006.

The stylish pool club is once again opening its doors to the pool playing community with a new US 8 ball competition which will take place every Wednesday at 8pm.

The competitions are run in the main area of the stylish club so that other club members can experience the atmosphere generated by the competitors with the aim that anyone and everyone can enter.

Click on "Read More..." for the details.

LOOP has previously hosted a Pro Tour event (9-Ball) which was very well received by both the club and players alike, LOOP's unique fusion of pool within a club surroundings make it an attractive alternative the standard interior offered by the chains of pool/snooker clubs. Happy hour and food deals are also available during the week, see the website for further details.

The matches start at 8 and first prize is a minimum of £50 (will increase depending on numbers), 2nd prize is 2 hours of free pool and a bottle of bubbly, 3rd prize is 2 hours of free pool.

The rules will be a diluted version of the IPT rules, this is to allow those wishing to play the pre qualifiers the chance to practice the basics and for those players who are not familiar at all with the rules, they get the chance to play without being at a disadvantage.

The notable IPT rules in force will be:

  • Balls are racked with 1 ball at the top, 8 as normal and a spot and a stripe at the rear two end balls, everything else is just thrown in.
  • End of turn (not a foul) if you pocket opponents ball whilst performing a legal shot.
  • Fouls results in 1 shot - ball in hand
  • Pocketing the 8 off the break wins rack
  • Foul on break is either ball in hand or rerack with choice of breaker
  • A ball must hit a rail once the cue ball has legally struck an object ball
  • No metal ferrule cues (too many clothes getting ripped!)
  • 5 balls have to hit a rail on the break
  • Calling 8 ball shot, potting the 8 ball in an incorrectly called pocket results in loss of game.
