JAMES HAS QUALIFIED FOR THE FINAL TABLE!!!

Unbelievable achievement mate, the final 9 play a live game in November for the 8.5 million dollar first prize (they are all guaranteed at least a million now!).

Just a comment about the luck v skill factor in poker, it is a huge misconception that poker is all about getting the cards. Firstly Phil Ivey who has qualified for the final table is one of, if not the best player in the World right now and has already won 7 WSOP bracelets over his career, not sure if you can call that luck?

Annette Obrestad who is a pro poker player from Sweden played a whole online tournament without looking at her cards and she went onto win it, basically showing that as long as you play your position well and can read how players bet and act you do not always need good cards.

Actually Chris that's a myth about her not looking at her cards...although she did go blind for most of the comp she did look a few times in big pot situations, she got really lucky and it was just supid not to look at her cards.

And as a poker adict i would say it's 60% skill 40% luck.

Ok ok, just trying to reinforce the fact that it isn't "all about the cards" :-D

dont know him but WOW awesome acheivement he is now regardless of result on final table a made man for life will treble at least his payout in sponsorships deals etc best of luck to him... play a little poker myself and can assure anyone it takes a huge amount of skill to play the game at the highest level anyone who thinks there is a big luck factor is way off track these top players think on so many levels its unreal...
Ps Annette_15 only looked once at her hand had postage sticker over hole cards at a 4flush board and it was only a $4 180 turbo multi (micro stakes for her usual buyin) so standard is very beatable using position poker

i never knew the final wasnt till november learn something new everyday!

if people think poker is all about luck, they should say that to gus hansen!! he can play pretty any 2 cards and still win, yeah course u need luck quite alot of it sometimes but the top players are so skillfufll, they no how to manipulate/play "positions" and most of all there masters of reading of other opponents

specially daniel negranau.

anyone seen that clip of him on youtube, where it shows his best "reads", some of his reads are unreal!!

Nice on James,

It couldn't happen to a nicer guy and taking up poker rather than pool was definately the right call :-)
Good luck in November
