I don't think that's how it works for the US Open, I think they just play one extended race to 13 for the title.

I know what you're saying is the correct and fair version, but this single race final is quite common, especially for televised events where the uncertainty of the duration of the final would play havock with the schedules, and ESPN are buying this (no videos of this to buy afterwards because of this incidentally.

Yeah, last year he had to win by 2 clear racks, and the score went to 15-13 - they won't be doing that this year, presumably for the same reasons of scheduling.
