Well a short sharp session this morning on my road to victory, and I am up at my highest point so far. the total is modest at £42.68, but goal acheived, I wanted to get above £40, so wont chance the fates by playing on longer than I should (like I normally do) so im thinking cautios optimism is the way forward. a day and a half in Im £37 up so have to be happy.... so far.

You're going in the right direction. At that rate in another 5 days you'll have enough for your first instalment and 17 days later you'll have enough to pay the annual fee in full :)

(whispers quietly)"That is the idea, but dont tell the gods of fate, I want to slip quietly under their radar". I have just noticed something that could be the (pardon the expression) ace up my sleeve (groan). The site I am using offers the equivalent of experience points which allows feeders into the big money tournies. If I could get involved in one of these and get a nice placed finish, then that could be a factor on how this mission goes. Although, the first installment is my first goal. It is a bit of a rollercoaster at the moment. slowly but surely. but hey, if i dont make the tour it wont be the end of the road. I could just invest in a decent cue and some tutoring/bucket loads of practice. This is the first tentative steps on the long long road of 9 ball. Although to start with if someone who happens to own lots of cues fancies loaning/renting one to me, that would relieve a small amount of pressure...

Thanks bud, There is no overtime available at the moment, although am trying everything to get a payrise, and I am looking at picking up some christmas/ evening/ weekend work, hopefully sorting that out this weekend. It is a bit of a dire situation we are in and I know it is piddly little amounts we are talking but this is kind of my little outlet of hope. (and im playing at odd times, early morning or late night. I guess what i need is a job in a 24 hour snooker/pool hall. Althought dont see them     coming up every day.

P.S thanks for the support. I hope I can make the 10k you lost. If I do you can have some back!!

Been playing against people who seem to want to throw money at me. Just won $200 on a hand where someone tried to bluff me with absolutely nothing when I had two paid A 8. So now £180 up I think. Hopefully I wont end up giving it all away like I normally do lol.

"When the World hates you"

As you can probably imagine from the title what you are reading is nowhere near as painful as it is to write, and compared to the anger and anguish I have felt over the last 2 days, it pales into insignificance. Let us rewind 48 hours......
-------------------------------------------------------

I restart my trek at my highest point so far, and daring to dream of reaching my first point. I remember thinking this was a rollercoaster ride which I was well aware could go either way, and unfortunately that way was not up.

Every single thing I touched turned to nothing. Hands you would watch and think there is no way I could lose, I got screwed over on, other tournaments I played in kicked me in the teeth again and again, giving me nothing cards, and no matter which strategy I tried I was met by supreme bad luck. I cannot remember the amount of times that I was all over someone only for them to find the 2 cards in the deck that would save them. If I had a straight off the flop they would turn and river a flush, if I had a full house they had a better one, I lost out to 4 of a kinds, straight flushes. The motto was, play against me, you cant lose. and my total whittled down to under £20. Now this morning I woke up with a fresh perspective. I understand luck can take away something but this just made me want to cry.......

I took my £18 something and entered into 2 tournaments. exactly like I do every time, nothing, NOTHING different. Except this time my laptop decided to have a seizure, I was broken. Knowing my situation, I cannot afford to just throw money away. I had 8 pounds sitting there, just frittering away and I could do nothing about it. That you would think is the end of my pain, it cannot get any worse..... unless of course the computer magically fixes itself in time for me to watch not one, but both of my tables reappear some 40 minutes later to view the last of my chips being taken away and that happy message, you have been eliminated from the tournament in...... So somehow, I havent thrown my laptop through the window, and I have just over 10 pounds left. Now reading it back to me, I will allow anyone reading this a chuckle, I can almost see the funny side of it. but I cant quite bring myself to laugh along with you because it would quickly turn to tears. I am now back to square 2, although at this point in time I fear the whole darn world is against me. The dream is fading and fading fast. Surely the end of the road is round this corner.... I feel broken.
-------------------------------------------------------

Other than that I am having a really great day, I might just kill myself to top it off :-)

Yeah, I have made my piece with the bad luck, its just one of those things. its the external problems that bother me, not being able to do anything about it.

I know how you feel. Although my tale of woe has quickly been turned around.
I have been playing mainly head to head tournies which my record is won 8 lost 3. So I took to a head to head money game with blinds of $2/$4. The guy I was playing was being very aggressive, betting almost 3 times the blind nearly every hand. Eventually I got JJ and went all in which he called. Total pot was $480. This meant if I lost I had $50 left.
He turned his cards to reveal A Q, so it was almost a 50:50 shout.
The flop came down and nothing for either of us. Then the turn, nothing again. So I'm now thinking he only has 6 outs from 45 cards and would you believe it he hit his A on the river.
Thinking to myself that was it, no more poker I almost left but decided to deposit a further $150 as a last ditch attempt. I played the same guy and this time I went aggressive which worked as I turned my $150 into $300 very quickly. Then he raised pre flop and with me having A 8 suited I thought "go all in and nick this pot". He called so now a $600 pot was being played for. He turned his cards over to reveal A J unsuited and my heart sunk. However, the flop revealed and 8 and two other low cards. Then the turn was an A, so finally the river. All i needed to avoid was a J, surely this couldn't happen to me twice. Correct, it couldn't happen twice as a 7 hit the river and I had won the pot. Very lucky indeed, but from this I went on to play some careful cards and won a further $275 that day. I have taken out my original stake and now have $600 in my account.
It's always a tough game when you lose, but the best advice I have is to get back into it and your luck should change.
Once thing I often do is play silly hands if I can get in cheap. 4 5, 4 6, 5 7 etc. It's amazing how many times you'll hit trips. And given that very few people will think you've played a weak hand you can profit from them.

The Death of the Dream.

Well, after almost a week, this short story is at its end, the dream I held of joining this great tour must now be put on the shelf until next year. In my heart of hearts I felt like it might be a mission to far, but even so, I am gutted. When the fates do not want something to happen, I guess there is little one can do. I never thought I would make a sudden impact on the tour, blazing a trail across the UK, but even though I never had a place, it is hard not to miss it. I can only hope that I somehow can get involved playing wise next year, although with the interest that is there even that seems like a long shot. I will do my best to get to the tour events, and I will definately be getting to open tournaments, but I can only hope I dont miss the boat, so Riggers, if you are reading, what are my chances of getting involved in next years tour?

A rether dejected 9 ball hopeful

I am maybe as my name suggests

Have you tried to get a sponsor or backer? I may have lined myself up with one (hopefully) and the arrangement is he'll pay for membership/accommodation and travel and i'll pay him a % of any prizes. If I haven't won a penny I'll then pay back 50% of what he pays which gives me a longer period to save for it.

Trouble is, I dont know anyone who would be willing. And as I am probably going to be bombing out of tournaments in the first/second rounds, that is not a very alluring prospect for anyone

Oliver - have you seen the Chichester article. You'll never get a better offer than that. Plus I have a spare Predator that you can use.
