Calling all Amateur 9ball players, I have been working on a new format over the past few days and have come up with the 'Mosconi Club Cup' ********************************************** Date - Saturday 12th January Entry - £40 or £35 for T9B Members (Memb £25 for a year) Venue - St Albans Hurricane Room Limit - 32 Players Break - 3 point rule with alternate Breaks, Golden Breaks count ********************************************** After watching Europe triumph again in December at the York Hall against team USA, i thought id love to be involved in a similar style match. I began to think How could this work???? to make it worth while it would have to be a minimum £100 as you could only double up on your money. I don't see this as good value for money and also I'm sure others would feel the same by saying I'm not really up for putting in big stakes and relying on other players!! So... below is the format I have designed which i personally think is awesome and would like your feedback Stage One (League to Prove Worth) **32 players will battle through 3 random matches to prove there worth... with all results being placed into 1 league table Stage Two (Captains player picks) Players who finish 1st and 2nd will be the named The Captains, players ranked 3rd to 8th will also qualify for the Mosconi stage of the event. Captain 1 will pick a player then Captin 2 will pick a player and so until we have 2 teams of 4 players. Stage Three (Mosconi Style Match) A Mosconi style game will then be played on 1 table, The captains will be given a score card and must decide the order there players will play. (this will be done in secret so the other team doesn't no whose playing were) matches will be played to the schedule below. All matches race to 5 1) team match - all players one rack continues until a team wins 5 racks 2) Singles 3) Scotch Doubles 4) Singles 5) Scotch Doubles 6) Singles 7) Singles (All players to compete in a Singles, Scotch Doubles and a Team Match (All Matches 1 point per win, 4 points wins the Title) (All matches most be played so a MVP can be decided) based on 32 players the prize money should be good. Estimate prize fund £200 to each player in the winning team £40 to each play in the losing team £50 and trophy to the MVP (player who wins most racks) If prize money allows there will be a second Mosconi match for the next 8 ranked players for an extra £10 entry. I think this gives the event great value only £35/£40 to enter running it the other way each player would have to put in £200 to get similer prize money. What do we think??? Entry list 1 Phil Wildman 2 Alex Kontaroudis 3 Mark Parker 4 Neil Craycraft 5 Darren Saxby 6 Wayne Rooke 7 Ramesh Gokhul 8 Mikko Tuomi 9 Jaspal Bamotra 10 Larry Catapang 11 Chris Parker 12 Tom Staveley 13 Lionel Brown 14 Rattapol 15 Dave Nelson 16 Will you be in the Winner team and be the first T9B Winners of 2013?????? Thanks m8, i think it will be good fun, great to see how players perform when there playing under pressure of other players wanting them to win, a great chance for 4 players to win a nice bit of prize money rather than just 1 or 2 and great the fact that the lesser players can be part of a winning team to.

Phil, why dont you run a southern comp, we run a northern one, and the two teams formed play each other home and away? Or at a central Venue? [ This message was edited by: The_Lunn on 2012-12-18 15:18 ]

I did think about sugguesting something simalier like 4 events collect some of the prize money and have a meeting in a central location for a finals with money collected North and South could end up a big pot without having to put alot of money in.

Why not pal. Would be awesome that. Esp if you could run a 1 day mini league, handicapped so everyone has a chance. Top 5 earn a spot... Mint One north one south, the mosconi itself in say Leicester, jobs a good 'en! [ This message was edited by: The_Lunn on 2012-12-18 15:32 ]

I am i think its a good idea but i guess we would have to see what the interest is. you can cut and paste my write up if you want and organise a comp for up North on the same format? then take it from there? im happy to redo the figures ect and see what can be saved for a Grand Final North vs South

I think it would need to be a dedicated event for North v South.
Run a 1 day mini league as you stated above, handicap it, top 5 win a place. Then we meet in Leicester at Rack N Roll or something like that and play. Rather get it properly organised beforehand rather than just play it by ear tbh..
