Tonight marks the end of an era as the 10 year run of our Wednesday Night 9 Ball tournament comes to a close. In that time there have been around 150 different winners. Luke Rollison is probably the most prolific.He has taken the cash at least 50 times but Shaun McDermott and Richard Main trail closely behind. I have won about 7 times but none compare to the magic of the first one. It was the first time that had ever been in the Winners Circle and it was a minor thing that for the first time that the winners money had paid out £100 for first place. Fabio Petroni played a couple of times and went through the field twice without dropping a rack.
But this is not bad news. We are starting again next Thursday 1st November, with club owner Damien Carson generously offering a guaranteed Winner getting £100 and a total pot of £175 . Entry Fee is still an unbelievable £5.
We switched the nights to try and get some new blood into the event. Entry fee cover the Main Tournament and if you lose first match then you go into the Plate. Play starts at 8.15 but you should register by 8 o’clock.
We have a tried and tested handicap system that give anyone a fair chance. The worst player has to win at least three racks with better players needing to win more. So with this 3 rack target you could be facing players with an 11 rack handicap. So facing someone like Luke if you were a beginner would mean that you would have to win 3 racks before he won 11. The average handicap is around 6 or 7.
So why not come along and give it a go. There are prizes for Golden Breaks and the whole night is a lot of fun. Tables are free and if you want to practice then you need to arrive early
