Morning everyone,
Once again my brain has been working overtime on a new format as i love to keep events new and fresh.
I have always wanted to run a scotch doubles event but in the past have only thought of problems, e.g strong teams, weak teams and players not wanting to put money in on a random draw incase they are drawn with a lesser player for the whole event. So i have come up with this and im hoping for feedback...
A standard entry list is formed, once the amount of entries is known players are divided into a pot of Captains (the strongest players by T9B rating) and a second pot of team players.
The format would depend on amount of entries but would be a minimum 3 league match and more if less than 32 players enter (which I hope there wont be)
Ok so here is where the idea kicks in, Captains are drawn with team players for the first match, there is a league table for the Captains and a league table for Team players, after the first match results come in, players are re-drawn again from there seperate pots and again for the third match.
Again the amount of entries would decide how many Captains qualify and how many Team players qualify. So during the league stages each player would team up with minimum 3 different players.
In the Knockout the process continues after each match Captains and Team players are redrawn but kept in seperate pots so there is always a random feel and often a near level match.
I think this could work very well... it keeps things fair and it also means that a top rated player would win prize money and so would a lower ranked player who maybe doesnt normally win.
Feedback Please....
