Total9Ball

It was St Luke in St Albans

On Saturday 7th July St Albans Hurricane Room played hosts to 29 hopeful players in T9B's Amateur Of The South Competition. This was a double chance 9ball event in which each player gets two chances at winning the main prize as they are entered into both half’s of the draw. In total 57 matches were played and well over 600 racks!
Matches began at 10am and out of the 29 entrance none had ever won a Total9ball Double chance comp so it was all to play for. The very first match was a clash of the big guns as Ramesh Gokhul returned a 7v4 victory over Courtney Symons. Other first round matches included a local matchup between to St Albans league players Mikko Tuomi and Paul Summerfield... Mikko was victorious by a 7v5 scoreline. T9B founder Phil Wildman defeated James Welch 7v1 and Tom Staveley won a close affair 7v5 against Paul Wensley of Worthing. Neil Craycraft and Rich Main won the two matches that went to hill-hill against Louis Clarke and Mark Hughes respectively. The Biggest win of the first round came in the second half pf the draw as Courtney inflicted a 7v0 win upon Tyler Trew. Geoff Windeatt drew the short straw as he played Wayne Rooke in the first round of both sides of the draw and was beaten 7v2 and 7v3.
Round two began ahead of the predicted start time as Luke Rollison opened the round with a great 7v2 win against Ramesh, would this be the last time they played in this event? Chris Buckmaster showed his class beating Dean Reeve 7v2, Paul Mcmichael defeated Tony David 7v3 and it was Bournemouth vs Worthing as Louis Clarke defeated Paul Wensley 7v4. Jaspal Balmotra recorded his first ever win again Phil Wildman 7v6. James Welch must be sick of the sight of Wildman as he was again beaten 7v1 for the second time in the same event.
Moving on to the money round Luke Rollison, Mark Parker and Rich Main were still in both half’s and needed a win each side to cash twice. Mark Parker made the perfect start whitewashing Paul Taylor 7v0 but was then brought back to earth with a 7v5 defeat to Mr Rollison whos winning streak continued in the second half of the event as he beat Jaspal Bamotra 7v4. Rich Main could only manage a win and a lose as he won 7v3 against Paul Mcmichael but lost 7v6 to Courtney Symons.
As the Quarter Finals began it was only Luke Rollison who was still in the draw twice he added Rich Main to his list of defeated players 7v2 but his run then came to an end as he played Ramesh Gokhul for the second time, losing 7v4. Mark Parker battled with all his will to make a great comeback to knock-out Chris Buckmaster 7v6 while on the table next door Phil Wildman reversed the result from the Amateur Grand Finals final last month winning 7v6 against Courtney Symons.
So... then there were 4 players left and the matches were Luke Rollison v Mark Parker and Ramesh Gokhul vs Phil Wildman both matches ended 7v3 with wins for Luke and Ramesh which set up a third meeting between these two great players. A quick event history check:-

Round Two Luke beat Ramesh 7v2
Quarter Finals Ramesh beat Luke 7v4

The final began and Ramesh had the upper hand of the early exchanges and raced into a 5v2 lead before the comeback began Rollison turned into a potting machine winning the next 5 racks to become Total9ball Amateur Champion Of the South 7v5 and lift the lovely glass Trophy.

Another success Total9ball event, the atmosphere in the club was good and the club itself was again fantastic as the renovations continue there is a change each time we attend. This time it was nice new wood flooring and the club when complete is really going be top notch. Thanks to all the players who attended, I hope you all enjoyed the event as much as I did and thanks to Nicole for all her hard work again behind the busy tournament desk.

T9B's next event is the 8,9 and 10ball Championship on the 4th August the thread is now available on www.pro9.co.uk and remember on 18th August The Double Chance Series begins so be sure to get your names down for these excellent events.

I'd like to congratulate Phil wildman on total9ball as he his turning it into a massive success with the verity of events and the way these events are run.

He does a very professional job with ore event posters and articals and the after event write ups are always in a league of there own !!

This is what pool needs !!! Some1 who will take the time and effort to make these events happen!!

I with these was people in the north who would put this much effort in to making events happen as since Shirley and riggers went there separate ways there arnt any decent and well run events anymore.

Well don phil and keep up the good work !!!!

Cheers Craig its really nice to hear. I do work on T9B alot its not but i also really enjoy it. I have a great team from Mark Parker doing all the posters and Nicole there at each event taking results ect and couldnt do it alone. Also great to have the players support now so the amount of players playing is increasing which is great and long may it continue.

Agree with others. What Phil is doing with this variety of events is fantastic. Great value and well run events. Also the different formats keep it fresh and exciting.

Well done Phil.

im planning a big event at Mickey Flynns at the moment. the entry fee is going to be around the £50 mark so maybe you could run some flyers? if players in the North wanted to get in cheaper by qualifing?? be good to see you playing again also m8
