The Championship Of The South is an event that was run for the first time last year by Total9ball, The tournament is unique to all others as it allows players to enter the main draw twice, therefore each player gets two stabs at getting into the prize money. Allowing each player to enter twice it gives the event unbeatable value as this means a player could get into the prize money twice, it also means although its a Knock-out format each player knows they will get a minimum of two matches.
This event was won last year by Craig Osbourne. If my memory is correct he paid around £50 to enter... played around 8 matches and ended up The overall Winner and was also a beaten Quarter Finalist therefore he cashed twice and left the club with around £650 in his wallet, so not a bad days work.
This event received so much positive feedback it was run again at St Albans as an amateur only version won by Craig Waddingham, T9B then took the event to Mickey Flynns and ran an another open version call The Championship Of East Anglia where unbelievably it took less than 6 hours to fill up the 32 available spots, This Event was won by Imran Majid and finally new to 2012 the format was used in The Rookies comp won by Mark Singleton
